On the sidewalk

Of the quiet town at midnight

Lay a doll

Made of porcelain

Cracked and tattered

Small and insignificant

Forgotten

Like me

Sprawled on its back

Limbs each which way

Arm on torso

A crack on her cheek

Dropped

And never picked back up

Just like me

I bend over

Onto my knees

And I pick up the doll

Delicate

Fragile

Forgotten

Just like me
