Give Me an Eternal Smile



There are times when the darkness seems unbearable

It smothers me, choking me

Holy Light, give me an eternal smile

Chase away the shadows

Give me the sight

The sight for me to see

Even in the darkness.

Holy Light, make me a beacon

So I can shine hope wherever I go

So I can never lose my path

So that I can light the path for other's, too.

Holy Light, give me an eternal smile

Let other's know I'm not that bad

So they can see through me

So they can be here with me

So when the darkness comes, I won't be alone.

The ways can be so twisted

Distorting the truth

Light, give me the Knowledge to find the just path

Give me the Courage to follow it through

Give me the Friendship so I can lead others

Give me the Love to take in those who don't care

Give me the Sincerity to bring others to the truth

Give me the Hope to keep me going

Give me the Reliability for others to lean on

Give me the Light to blind the darkness.

There are times tears unseen are shed

I try to find the shedder, to dry their tears

Even when I have my own

We can't drown in this Dark Ocean we've created.

There are times I keep the feelings bottled up inside

And often I feel as though could burst

But I've got to keep this inside

Or others might be affected, too

But if you can reach me and help me release them

You can dry my tears, too.

Holy Light, give me an eternal smile

So I can be a dove

Pure and white

A symbol for those who can't find their way

With my wings stretched catching the sun

Warding the Shadows threatening the Light.

Holy Light, no problem's big enough

I know we can do it if we do it together

Even when we cry in the darkness

Hoping for no one to hear

Give me the Hearing to hear the sobs

Give me the Healing to help heal the wound

Give me the Heart to do it again

Give me the Hope that'll it will soon be over

Always the Darkness will fear the Light.

Make me a dove

Pure and white

A symbol of peace, of the end of the darkness

A white beacon that won't fade or die

I'll help you open your wings

So you can join me

So there can be two white beacons

Wings spread out

Against a dark, gray sky.

Even those whose wings are broken

The Light can find you

I'll find you

You'll be sheltered under my wings.
