Best Friends
Sadie walked to school with her best friend Paige. It was the first day of High School and Sadie's insides were churning. She looked at her friend Paige and she gulped. She hoped it wasn't like Primary school. Everyone there was so spiteful and nasty. Paige and Stevie were the only friends that she had ever had and she never wanted to leave them. But, not long ago, about 4 months ago, a great tragedy happened. Stevie was in a Hit-And- Run accident. She was killed on impact. Sadie and Paige were so grief- stricken that they barely talked to anyone but each other for 6 weeks. "I wish Stevie was here. She would make things seem better than they were," said Paige with tears in her eyes. "Good old Stevie. Always joking around and making us laugh. "Don't talk about it. Lets imagine that she is here but she is invisible." said Sadie desperately trying to comfort Paige. "Come on. Lets go, or we will be late for class."
Lunch
Sadie walked through the cafeteria and searched for a table for her and Paige to sit at. She spotted an empty table and walked over to it. She set her lunch tray on the table and waited for Paige. A few minutes later, Paige sat down next to Sadie with a boy and girl. They looked so much alike. They were probably twins.
"Hey Sadie. This is Kash and Kizzy. They are twins. They couldn't find a table so I invited them to sit with us. Is that okay?" Paige looked at Sadie. "Sure. Whatever." Sadie wasn't in the mood for entertaining. But. she couldn't help but feel drawn to them like she had when she first met Stevie and Paige on the playground in kindergarten.
Flashback
Sadie was sitting at the top of the slide on the playground. She was too scared to go down. Sadie was too scared to do lots of things. Suddenly, she felt someone push her on the back and she slide down the slide so fast that she landed on her back in the sand. Moan. "Is she dead?" said someone from above Sadie. "Beats me but she looks it," said someone else. Sadie felt someone poke her in the side with a stick. "I'm okay. I think," said Sadie. Tears welled in her eyes. "W-who p-pushed m-m-m-me?" She burst into tears. "I'm sorry. I fell onto your back and you went down the slide pretty fast. I'm Paige and this is Stevie," said Paige looking very sorry. "That's some action figure you have there. What is it?" asked Stevie.
Back to the Present
Sadie looked at Kizzy and smiled so wide that her smile formed its own website. "So what kind of things do you guy's do for fun?" she asked feeling that fuzzy feeling that she got when she spoke to Stevie for the first time. "Do you know anyone here."
