I always lived a normal life. I had normal parents, went to a normal school, we drove a normal car and lived in a normal house. Everything was just the was I like it, perfectly normal. Then, when I was 15, all of that changed. A letter came to my house, it wasn't an ordinary letter. It was in thick, expensive looking paper and instead of having a return address, it just had a seal on the back with a lion, a badger, a snake and a bird and on the front, written in emerald green ink was our address and my sister's name. The letter changed everything....
My perfect little sister Lily. How come she got everything? She was prettier than me and smarter than me, no wonder my parents loved her more. The letter that came that day said that she had gotten into a school for witches called Hogwarts. I thought it was a joke, but mum and dad took it seriously. They were so proud to have her go to a school for freaks! I didn't understand. Then after that it was Lily this and Lily that.
At least now she would be gone for most of the year, except for holidays. I hated it when she came home for the holidays. Mum and dad only cared about her! They got her lots of presents and asked her all about school and what new kinds of "magic" she was learning. Rubbish. It was all rubbish.
I had one truly happy Christmas. My boyfriend, Vernon had invited me and my family to stay with his family over the holidays. Mum wanted to invite Lily as well but I put my foot down. I did not want her ruining my chances with him. He already knew about Lily's abnormality but if his sister or parents found out...I don't even want to think about it. Well, since Lily wasn't there mum and dad hardly even talked about her! It was wonderful.
The next Christmas should've been the happiest of my life. Vernon had come to stay with us and Lily was home as well. She brought her boyfriend James something or other. On Christmas morning, Vernon proposed. I was so happy. But mum and dad weren't happy for me. They were too busy looking at the necklace James got Lily. She ruined the last Christmas I got to spend with them....
