Written for the Pairing the Character Drabble Competition
Pairing: Daphne/Pansy
They said Slytherins were all cut from the same cloth – cunning and ambitious, with a predisposition for being bad and a thirst to prove themselves by any means necessary. Daphne Greengrass had grown up in a household where as an heiress to one of the Sacred 28, she was required to encompass all of what a Slytherin was supposed to be.
Daphne embraced the few Slytherin qualities she did have, unlike her fragile and weak minded sister who would have made a good Gryffindor if the Hat hadn't have taken pity on her at her Sorting.
Pansy Parkinson was everything a Slytherin was supposed to be. And everything Daphne wished she was. Loud, and seemingly fearless, with a temper that could melt a cauldron quicker than one of Neville Longbottom's foolish mistakes.
"Did you see that stupid Mudblood of Potter's get what she's had coming to her for ages?" Pansy shrieked excitedly, bursting into the girls' dorm one night, "Draco made her look exactly like the chipmunk she is! And it serves her right! Isn't he perfect, Draco?"
Daphne sighed and nodded, even as her heart sank to the pit of her stomach, wishing she had been the one to cast that hex.
