Shannon told everybody he loved her.
Had always been in love with her, will always be in love with her.
She needed him to love her, to desire her, to adore her with every fiber of his being.
It was something written in the stars, whispered in the winds, gushed by the oceans.
He loved her. He had to.
Because if he didn't love her, the universe would explode, implode, shatter into a million pieces.
And each glittering piece would pierce into her bleeding heart.

She ignored the way Jack gazed at Boone, a hesitant wonderment, a slight hitch in his breath.
She pretended not to see how Boone would brush against Jack's arm almost shyly, a tinge of smile in his crimson cheeks.
She wanted to laugh, cackle hysterically at how the two of them danced around each other, with their big, shining eyes and soft, gentle voices.
She clenched her hands so tightly she could feel the traitorous silvery crescents seeping between her perfectly manicured nails. And she wished it was Boone's betraying blood instead.
Take
Shannon learnt not to care about anything.
Because everything you care about would be taken from you, would be ripped away from your screaming arms.
But nothing had hurt this much before.
The helpless desperation tore into her chest, stabbed at her soul.
She could barely breathe, struggled to swallow as she watched Boone looping his arms around Jack's chest and placing a kiss tenderly on his forehead.
The glow on Jack's face nearly made her throw up.

The anguish on Jack's face was inevitable, the words tumbling from his mouth brushed by Shannon as she dropped Sayid's hand.
The suffocating tightness inside her chest finally loosened.
She could breathe again.
Now Boone would be hers forever.
PS. I think it's kinda sad how I'm still hoping that it's all just a huge publicity stunt and Boone didn't really die.
