We all know how Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio met and came to the exams so im starting with them entering exam tunnels also Gon will be different in the story
As the trio entered the tunnel they were stared at by the examinees, some of the stares where intimating and others stare were curious. The group was greeted by Mr. Bean and were given their numbers.

He told them to make sure they dont lose them, as walked away Tompa decided to walk over to them.
"Hey guys im Tompa i just wanted to give you these drinks as a congratulations on making it this far" Tompa said
"Thanks mister but why give us these" Gon asked
"Easy i been taking the exams over 40 times! And i know how it is when you first come here"Tompa said
"Since you took the exams so many times tell us who to watch out for" Kurapika
"Bourbon the Snake Charmer, Todo the Wrestler, the Amori Brothers, Cherry, and Geretta the Huntsman."
While doing the introductions they hear a bloodcurdling scream.
The trio turned to see a man with both of his arms missing screaming, above him is a man with red hair.
"I would be more careful of who you bump into they could be deadly" the man said
After that gon tasted the drink and immediately spat it out, soon Leorio and Kurapika tossed their drinks.
Gon left the group to wonder around the tunnel, he looked around and saw a girl sitting upside down. Gon approached her hoping she would tell him how she was hanging upside down.
"Hey im Gon i was wondering if you would tell me about that trick"
"But that would mean ruining it and not being able to surprise everyone" the girl said
"By the way what is your name?"
"It 's Momo nice to meet you Gon, we look about the same age how are old are you?"
"Im 12" Gon
"Im 14" Momo
Momo was wearing a traditional magician's outfit complete with a top hat, yellow cummerbund, coattails, and fishnets.
She made Gon giggle as she she spoke and this made him feel better around her.
"So Gon what brings you here to the exams hmm"
"Im looking for my dad he is a hunter, so i thought coming all the way here would help me find him"
"Ok do you have any leads to go on"
"Nope im just hoping to find him and finally meet him"
"Hmm I could help you Gon but it comes at a cost"
"LIke money?"
"No, I offer power,abilities, and magical things at the cost of your sanity or life energy it depends on which one you choose"
"I would rather keep my life energy that sounds important so i will trade my sanity but i need to get stronger physically before i can take you up on the offer Momo"
"That's fine so how about a game Gon, the first part of the exams has a lot of running in it and i would love to test my endurance"
"Cool and if i win you have to levitate me" Gon said happily

As Momo and Gon were talking the instructor finally arrived starting the exams.
