Vince could barely breathe. His lungs ached and he felt like he was drowning in air. His heart turned to solid ice and sluggishly pumped liquid nitrogen throughout his veins. His stomach felt too fluttery and seemed to be twisting itself into elaborate shapes, making him feel sick.
Any of his usual thoughts, which consisted of clothes and sweets, stuttered and flickered until all of the pretty pictures gave way to a blackness underneath, a blackness he thought he'd plastered with rainbows and glitter a long time ago.
He was too numb to notice when his legs went weak and decided to let him down in protest. He didn't register the water droplets falling onto the wooden floor as his tears.
Vince Noir didn't cry, no sir.
He sometimes thinks Howard truly believed that. Truly believed that Vince didn't feel anything other than happiness and choice, petty emotions that only circulated around fashion and his reputation.
What would he say if he found his Sunshine Kid in this state?
It was probably for the best that he didn't see Vince in a ball weeping pathetically like a child. He wanted to scream and lash out and hurt someone, anyone, even if it was himself, but he couldn't make a sound, he couldn't move. All of his strings had been cut, leaving a heap of limbs lying about uselessly waiting for someone to fix them.
It's a shame that the one who's always been there to fix him isn't going to this time. Vince will just have to stay broken because he knows any glue used to put him back together won't hold and he's suddenly missing a chunk of himself that would be hard to patch.
He doesn't want to be repaired. If he were, his cracks would be too visible and a forever reminder that he'd been shattered once. The favorite toy would be replaced by something shiny and new. There would be no one to hold him and love him anymore.
No, he'd rather remain a broken toy.
He doesn't want to be whole again.
Not without Howard.
Con-crit is very welcome since I haven't been into this fandom for very long and am still playing with their characters (though obviously this isn't a great representation of how they are normally). Let me know if you liked it or not!
