Through the cool, calm and relaxing atmosphere of the night, the rapid clicks of the keyboard can be heard. Kei Takishima, with eyes like hawk's, picked up the pace, hurrying to finish the mountains of company reports that were due next sunrise. He looked like a total mess, hair tangled up, eye bags visible, his skin pale, proofs that his work had been pushing him at the very edge. Oh, how much he longed for fresh air and sunlight. Exactly, when was the last time he had a good night sleep? Or even a decent long break?

As he crushed the seventh empty can of iced coffee he had been drinking to alert himself through the rough night, he leaned back against the black leather arm chair and looked up to see a wall clock that hung in the room.

"9:30, Damn it," he thought, clearly irritated.

Realizing how late he was only made him want to finish his work faster and so he paid no mercy with the laptop's keyboard as he rapidly and angrily typed another 26 pages of document report in a shocking hour. He finally shut his laptop and placed his right hand on his forehead, gently massaging it, hoping that the massive headaches fade. After a good few seconds, he lazily stood up and wobbled his way out of the room and down in the living room where he found her. Hikari.

"I'm so sorry, my love," the 24 year old man whispered to himself as he checked his tired wife, peacefully sleeping by the couch with their untouched food by the table.

"I cannot even make time to eat together with you. What kind of husband am I?"

After what seemed like minutes, Kei gently picked up his wife, careful not to wake her up from her peaceful slumber and took her up to their room, laying her on their blue king-sized bed. His golden orbs stared at her for a while, completely satisfied. His hand unconsciously caressed the woman's jet black hair and left to changed clothes. But not after giving his love a light peck on the forehead.

Kei then climbed to the bed next to Hikari, only to slightly wake her up from her sleep.

"Hmm? Who's t-there?" Hikari managed to utter as she turned to look up to Kei with heavy eyes. She didn't really bother to fully wake up. She was exhausted and he knew that.

"Oh, sorry," Kei whispered, knowing that his wife is half awake and tried to shush her back to sleep with his right hand lightly rubbing Hikari's arm.

The raven haired woman lulled herself back to dreamland after placing her left arm around her husband's upper torso lovingly. Kei's cheeks were tainted in light pink at Hikari's subconscious action. With that, he embraced her dearly with a pair of strong arms and kissed her forehead for one last time for the night. If only there were no heavy load of work and reports for him to do, then he could stay with his love that way for a bit longer. No worries, nothing crazy, just him, the love of his life and the feeling that binds them both together for all eternity.

But no, life wasn't as perfect as that. He needed the work. For his family.

"For the both of you…" He bent down to Hikari's growing stomach and planted a soft kiss, a sure sign of a promising future with his soon-to-be daddy's girl.

If all the hard work is for them, then how bad can it be?
