"Castle... I..."
"Kate, you don't have to say anything, just don't say no. If you can't say yes, then keep this as my promise to you. A promise that everything is going to be okay...
Cause I'll go wherever you will go. I want to be with you Always Kate, I love you..."
he paused then... And looked at the ring...
"just don't say no to me..."
"I'm not saying no Castle" came her reply in a shaky voice.
he looked up to find a tear rolling down her cheek, and then she reached into the neck of her jacket and took off her chain, the one that held the ring she's worn for the past several years.
she held her mothers ring, looking at it and then back at the ring castle was holding out to her.
He took the chain from her hand, put the engagement ring on it to hang beside her mothers ring, then stood before her and put it around her neck.
Another tear rolled down her cheek, and he wiped it with the pad of his thumb.
Cradling her face in his hands, he said "you'll never get rid of me Kate"
And she looked up to find him still looking so serious. she smiled, stood up from the swing seat and clashed her lips against his. Her arms making their way around his neck.
And Castle held her tight to him, his arms wrapped around her waist, like he could keep her there forever.
Kate kissed him like it had been weeks since they fought, when actually it had just been a day.
She hadn't slept at all the earlier night without him, knowing that she had hurt him, by keeping this a secret from him.
They kissed like their life depended on it. It was a kiss of forgiveness, understanding, acceptance and most of all utter love for each other.
She let her forehead rest against his as they both tried to catch their breath. "if that's the kind of kiss I get, when you agree to keep the ring, I can't wait to see what I get when you actually decide to wear it"
She laughed, and kissed him again.
"soon Castle, soon. I love you"
" I love you too Kate, Always have, Always will."
It was true, she wanted to marry him soon someday. But she wanted to answer him when the time was right.
Now, was not that time. He probably felt pressurized to ask her cause of the circumstances.
She'd wear that ring, just not today. She wanted to live the rest of her life with him... And she couldn't be happier that he was agreeing to be with her Always.
She pulled away a little then, a smile still plastered on her face, his arms still wound around her slender body...
"you scared me you know, I thought you were breaking up with me" she admitted.
"no no, never. I waited four years to make you mine and you think I'd let you go in a year? Never!"
She looked down then, and immediately back into his blue eyes, "I'm so sorry Castle, for keeping you out"
"we're okay kate. Now lets get out of here"
He pulled her to his side... Keeping his arm possesively around her, and kissed her over her head.
She lifted the new ring around her neck and looked at it. and then at this beautiful man beside her.
Yup, the day was not too far away, when she'd ask him to put it on her finger, himself.
But for now, it was his promise to stick by her, whatever happens, wherever life may take them and that in itself was huge. 3
