Genesis' hands wrapped around my head, and I could feel him tugging at my skull, as if demanding I wake from my restless slumber. My eyes cracked and I saw the first crescent of light which hit my pupils in a painful wave.
I came to, and my head rest in Genesis' lap. A black wing stretched over us, canvassing us from the bright light above. Everything melted together. My head leaned toward the warmth of his torso, cheek resting against cold, red leather.
"Won't you wake and see the fates for what they truly are...?"
His words swam in my head, but all of them recognizable. His poetry, of course; he rattled it off without a hitch, without a single hesitation. The words hit my ears caustically; instead of settling my heartbeat as intended, it grew quicker, a strangely familiar anxiety rising within me. I startled away from him to sit up, only to have a black, gloved hand rest against my chest, urging me to lay me back down to rest.
"Our paths have always been intertwined, even from the start. Like actors in a play... only, we didn't know which parts to play. I still believe," ...his fingers swiped across my forehead, brushing back silver hair. I looked up at him, eyes narrowing slightly.
"...that I was to be the hero." His lips parted as he paused, as if in a breathless sigh.
"Nevermind the roles we've been assigned. The roles have to be filled, nevertheless. I've been waiting for the day that I knew what it was to be the hero. That day will come, but it will take more time and preparation than I once thought. I was foolish, and cast my life aside in eagerness and desperation. Now has come the time for us to join our powers and knowledge,...and do as Mother has requested."
