33rd Hunger Games

Final

Crixus smiled a toothy grin as he plunged the knife into the girl's chest, covering his tanned skin in a wash of crimson. The red-headed girl clawed at his bare arms, drawing blood and making the boy flinch.

"Anna!" Crixus growled, calling over his District and Game Partner. The blonde girl rolled her eyes, far less impressed than the boy as she held their victim down. The red-head twisted and grunted against the weight.

"Just cut her fucking neck!" Anna hissed, raising her voice at the boy for the first time since they had been paired this seemed to catch Crixus off guard, his blue eyes flickering up to the girl with anger. "Er, we've won, we might as well get the last bit over and done with," Anna said, trying to offer a weak smile. Crixus raised his eyebrow as he pulled the knife from the girl's chest.

"Fine," he sighed, the long blade cutting through the flesh on her neck like butter, causing her to vomit blood onto Anna's face. After a few moments of holding down her twisting form, the pair

watched as the life drained from her eyes and her cannon sounded.

The pair smiled at each other, pulling themselves in for a hug as the anthem rung through the arena, two hovercrafts appearing. One lifted their victims into the air while the other allowed a swarm of Peacekeepers and cameras to spill in a few feet away from them.

"Now, for the big moment, will Crixus and Anna please make their way to the cube of truth!" Hermes, the host of the current Games cheered. The pair stood to their full of height, Anna being half an inch taller than Crixus, hand in hand and walked over to the glass cube in the middle of the grassland they had lived in for three weeks now.

A Peacekeeper held open the door for them, allowing them inside, then bolted them in. Inside was just like the pair had watched on television for the past Twelve years. On each side was a box, both the same in size and colour but only one held a weapon. Upon entering, Hermes requested that they decide who gained which box. As Anna was right handed and Crixus was left, they decided Anna would gain the left box, Crixus the right.

The pair took their sides, wishing each other luck and turned around to open their boxes. Crixus was not sure what was within Anna's but as he opened his box, he found a glossy, small handgun inside, a single bullet within. He could hear Anna cursing to himself at the other end of the cube.

"Crixus Maylor of District Two, you received the weapon. You have three options. The first option is you both life, go back to your District and marry. The other two options turn the gun on yourself or Anna James of District Two." Crixus thought about the choice. For four weeks, he had known this girl. They had been a power couple in the Capitol's eyes, the only pair that hadn't been switched about when other people entered the Arena but now the Question was, did he want to marry her?

Two Peacekeepers, covered head to toe in protective gear came through the door. Crixus looked over to Anna who was offering him a sweet but frightened smile. She would have done the same as him so he felt little remorse, it was the Game he had volunteered for in the end.

"I'm going to have to go with murder-"

"You fucking dick!" Anna screamed, charging forward, only to be caught by the peacekeepers and dragged over to Crixus, forced to kneel before him. Not even missing a beat, he placed the barrel of the gun against her head. "How could you?" the blonde girl seethed, trying not cry. "How can you kill me if we could both win?"

Crixus shrugged. "You're not my type...I'm just playing the Game, y'know, don't hate the player and stuff...sorry." and with that, Crixus pulled back the trigger, sending a bullet into the head of his once District Partner and lover.

Right, first off, the inspiration for this odd looking Game. Well, living in student accommodation, I have seen an array of love games on T.V from Love Island to Take Me Out, I got this idea. This is how everything will play out.

As always, twenty-four Tributes are chosen. Twelve boys and twelve girls. Upon arriving in the Capitol, the girls will be taken onto a game show style show. One by one, the guys will come on and introduce themselves, not knowing anything about each other (unless District partner). The girls can press a button at any point which means they are not interested in the guy and he cannot pick them. After introducing himself and talking about his strengths, the guy can pick any girl who is interested in him. This will leave twelve pairs.

After interviews, two boys will join the mix. They will introduce themselves to the girls but this time, the guys decide if they like the girl or not and the girls decide from the ones that want them. If no one does on both occasions, they are given the leftover Tributes. However, going into the Arena, one person will be alone, putting them at a sponsor disadvantage.

When someone becomes single in the Games, they are voted into a pair by the public. Once voted, it will be announced to the Tributes within their ear-set. They will be immune from the time they are told then two hours after they meet the person. However, they also can not attack anyone. If they do not meet up, they will be punished.

When there is one pair left (or two people they paired up) they are taken to the cube of truth. In there, they decide who gets what box. In one box they have a gun, loaded with a single bullet and in the other, nothing. The person who gets the weapon gets a choice. Take their partner home to their District and marry them, kill them or kill themselves. They then take action on their choice or risk being killed themselves.

For Tributes who are not interested in the opposite sex, in my world, the Capitol is homophobic HOWEVER, I do not so feel welcome to submit different sexualities if you like, be interesting to write.

This, as you can see by the title is the 34th time a game like this has been played. Twenty-one times people have chosen to live, nine times someone has killed their partner and four times someone had killed themselves. What will your Tribute do?

Tribute form is on my profile, I look forward to seeing what you all come up with!
