1. Introduction.
Being commander was almost similar to playing chess. It was about the strategy. All about being methodical, efficient and responsible, hence, why I stress the world almost because this was actually a life or death situation, unlike chess. I might be safe back at HQ but there was heck of a more responsibility for me. If CHARLIE team is running out of ammo, I send a supply drop at their current position. DELTA does not know about enemy's location, then I send a UAV spy plane overhead. I was basically big brother in the sky. That blue dot on the com-centre screen was a real person that had a family back home. Infact all those blue dots represented the brothers, fathers, sons who were on the battlefield, risking their lives for liberty and honour. It was my responsibility to bring them back home to their families without casualties

Who am I kidding?
This is war. People die and if you survive –and that's a pretty big IF-then chances are that the psychological effects stay longer on you then the actual war. I should know because I was on the battlefield a year ago and the things you see can change a man. The image of a Lieutenant holding a dying Private in his arms is stuck in my head. The poor kid ran straight into a landmine and as a result lost his legs. The amount of blood…there was so much blood. Not even a minute later the older man had let go of the corpse, before picking up his rifle from the sand. Fuelled by rage and sorrow, he shot at the enemies' location not caring that he's out in the open. He was finished with a headshot by a sniper. In the battlefield, it is kill or be killed. Be death itself or be dead.
My name is Kyon. This is my story on the battlefield.
