Disclaimer: I do not own B5
An unimportant Conversation
It had been a quiet week on Babylon 5 so far nothing major had happened; which was strange, for something was always happening on the station. Susan was standing on the deck of C&C admiring the lack of stress that was usually imbedded in her week. Everything was moving slowly, effectively and most importantly, on time. As Susan stood there silently, staring blankly out into space, she did not hear the footsteps of her superior officer come up behind her.
"Why don't you leave early today, Susan? I'm sure I can handle it up here for a while." Sheridan prompted her.
"Oh, you scared me. I would love to leave early. I will go as soon as I run a diagnostic of all systems." Susan answered as she pressed some buttons.
"Susan, you already did 2 diagnostics in the last half hour. You should take off early." Sheridan told her again.
"Alright, but if everything goes up in flames, don't let me tell you I told you so" Susan replied as she left C&C.
As Susan left C&C, she saw Marcus in one of the offices pacing around the room. Susan stopped and watched him pace for a little while longer before making her presence known.
"Is everything alright Marcus?" Susan asked
"Can I ask you a question?"Marcus asking as he spun around to look at Susan
"Sure, I'm sure how much help I can be, but okay." Susan answered as she walked over to the couch. Marcus followed her and began telling her his problem almost immediately.
"Alright, the problem is this: the immediate problem is that I need to go back to Minbar for a few days to teach several classes on blocking aggression techniques and conflict resolution strategies." Marcus started explaining.
"Okay... I'm not sure I see the problem Marcus." Susan answered.
"The problem is that I am the least qualified person do teach those training sessions, but Delenn had asked me to, and I told her that I would get back to her...there hasn't been any trouble on the station that would cause me to stay here. Maybe like some mission in a nearby system that I can check out by chance?"Marcus asked.
"Okay Marcus, I will help; let's go back into C&C and I will try to find something to send you on." Susan said as she began to walk out of the room.
"Oh, Marcus, I forgot to ask. What was the other problem that you had?" Susan turned around to ask.
"The other problem... well that's a little harder to explain. You see, there is this woman that I work with on a daily basis, that I would like to ask out, but there never seems to be any time ask her out. The both of us work so much and I suppose I just have never gotten around to it." Marcus answered.
"Well I hope it all works out Marcus. I'm sure whoever it is would be lucky to have you." Susan stated as she began to walk out of the room.
"OH Susan, never mind the mission, I will go to Minbar. Thanks for listening."Marcus called out.
"Okay. I will see you around Marcus... hey Marcus did you want to get a cup of coffee some time with me?" Susan asked as she walked back to the office.
"Sure. I don't leave for a couple more days." Marcus replied.
"Well don't leave it too long, you never know when something bad will happen somewhere in this place, and quiet days are far and few between." Susan said as she walked out of the room and down the corridor.
"I love you Susan." Marcus whispered.
After several minutes Sheridan walked into the room and sat down across from Marcus in the office and looked at him.
"Your mission has been planned out and everything is on this data crystal. You leave in 4 days and you can choose to bring one person with you." Sheridan explained.
"Thank You Captain, and I would like to bring along Susan." Marcus replied as he left the room.
