The sunlight streamed into the room and right into the eyes of Mary Poppins. No, not Mary Poppins. Not anymore. The sunlight landed right in the eyes of Mary Alfred. She sighed happily and stretched her toes out from under the blanket. Beside her, Bert was still sleeping soundly. She scooted closer to him, pulling the sheet with her, and gently placed a kiss on his cheek.
She sat up slowly. ran her fingers through her hair, and looked around the room. She had barely seen the suite the night before and it was really a nice room. Of course, she had been a bit…distracted and wasn't paying any attention to what the room looked like. A deep blush crept into her cheeks when she thought about the night before.
Mary sighed, she definitely didn't want to get dressed, not entirely. But she also felt very uncomfortable with only the sheet to cover her. She glanced at the floor and she saw it. Bert's button-down dress shirt lay carelessly forgotten on the floor amidst part of a small trail of equally forgotten clothing. She snapped her fingers together as quietly as she could manage and the shirt zoomed towards her. She pulled it on and quickly buttoned it up.
Once the shirt was on and buttoned, Mary pulled herself out of the bed and made her way to her carpet bag that sat right by the door. She opened it and searched around for her hairbrush. It wasn't too hard to find and within minutes, Mary was sitting in front of a vanity, running the brush through her tangled waves. She hummed quietly to herself.
Bert rolled over with every intention of pulling his new wife close and spending the morning with her in his arms. But when his arms came into contact with the sheet and no Mary, his eyes flew opened. "Mary," he said quietly with a small sense of panic. His eyes darted around the room until he saw her sitting in front of the mirror. He smiled and watched her brush her hair. And then he saw that she was wearing his shirt. He smirked, it definitely looked a lot better on her than it did on him.
Quietly, he leaned over the edge of the bed to grab his trousers and pulled them on as quickly as he could. Now somewhat decent, he snuck up behind Mary and began to massage her shoulders.
Mary smiled and leaned against him, reaching her free hand up to cover one of his. "Good morning, love," she hummed happily. She put her brush down and turned to face him and was pleasantly surprised by the kiss he stole when she did. "Hmm, I could get used to greeting you like that…"
He smirked and pulled her up so that she stood in front of him, "Well then Mrs Alfred, allow me to do it again." He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her silly. Mary rested her hands on his bare chest and sighed happily.
"You're wearin' my shirt," he pointed out cheekily.
"Am I," she asked, a grin spreading across her face, "I hadn't noticed."
"It does look a bit charming on you… If you asked nicely, I might let you keep it."
"I don't like it that much," Mary said, she obviously didn't mean it though.
"Well, if you aren't all that fond of it," Bert grinned, a mischievous spark in her eyes, "I suppose that you don't really need it then…"
He kissed her again and pulled her towards the bed. In a matter of minutes, the shirt lay on the ground. Forgotten…again.
