Stars lit the sky like someone had placed a million vigil candles out to guide their way home for tonight. Tonight they were flying home to rest in their beds and only imagine that their adventure as nothing but a dream. Even with knowing it was no dream, they knew, that's the only way they could on living without looking back over their shoulder with sorrow. But as their flight in the sky took more of the precious moments left with the mystical boy, the young girl who started to show as a woman knew she had to share a secret. A secret that kept her heart racing whenever her blue crystal eyes lay upon him.

Closing her eyes tight, she veered herself off the course the young man her two brothers took and stopped for a moment. The town looked so beautiful from above and she took a few minutes to cherish the unique advantage point. London was by far a place she would always consider her home. It was a place that allowed a fairy tale take place and show three children hearts that their childhood dreams were not farce.

A slow blow of wind tousled her nightgown as she noted her body was much tinier when up in the air. She was grateful that the fairy dust kept her afloat for as long time, though there was never a time limit that she'd known of. Sweet smells from the city traveled upward, wafting scents of bread baking in London's finest bakery and bits of smoke from chimney tops. It was something she would engrave in her memory; for this was the night she would lay to rest her childhood. When she went to sleep a small bud, arising in the morning would be petals of a glorious lily. The feeling of sadness started to twist in her gut and she had to pull the reigns on it before it manifested into a cry. She did not wish to cry, not in front of her brothers or Peter.

Suddenly at the reminder of the name, her eyes snapped up from the scenery and scanned to locate the young boy who'd stolen her heart only to find him hovering a yard away, watching her intently. He wasn't scowling like he found something grotesque or something he disliked, but they bore no light as they usually did.

The boys were playing about a few chimney stacks and danced around roof top. Wendy wasn't sure what exactly they were planning on doing but she kept her words silent while she tried to fathom the expression being given to her by the boy who would never grow up.

A thump in her chest reminded her over and over that this was the exact same boy who paid her so much attention. He was the one who took her to the Mermaid Lagoon to show her around. He even saved her from being eaten by a giant crocodile and even managed to protect her from the pirate that tried to place her in its belly.

Their eyes locked together. And it was then that she finally understood his meaning behind the expression. He would miss her. As if trying to engrave her image in his mind as she did with the city, he observed her quietly.

"Peter?" She whispered his name as his eyes slowly started to fade back to their normal way.

"Come on, let's get you back home." Floating toward her, he placed his hand in front and offered it which she smiled and took gratefully. As soon as her skin touched his, the grasp around her hand tightened and she felt his need to be near her. She loved this boy, this boy who wished to be a man beside her.

Without a word, Wendy leaned against his shoulder and kissed his lips with tenderness. He didn't back away with fear or disgust. He simply stood firm and kissed her back, even if it only lasted a blinking moment.

There it was in plain sight. Closure.

Her first love, first relationship and already heartache rang from loss.

"Thank you Peter."
