INTRO: This story doesn't really have a point, I just wondered what Maggie was like as a little girl when her father was still alive. The General must have been a wonderful father for Maggie to love him so much. Everything that she is/was is/was because of her father. She went into the Marines because he was a Marine, (I'm guessing.) I'm not sure what the deal is with her mother, but she only mentioned her once since she became a Slider. Either she died when Maggie was young, or she wasn't a very good mother. Maybe she was gone all the time at work or something like like that. Who knows? Enjoy!
General Thomas Beckett sat down on the edge of his daughter's bed. She had gotten into her PJs and hopped into bed. He pulled the cover up around her and kissed her forehead. "Goodnight Daddy!" Six year old Maggie smiled up at her father. He smiled. "Goodnight Mags. Sleep tight..." "...And don't let the BedBugs bite!" giggled the little girl. Thomas grinned. Maggie was everything in the world to him. The General missed his wife, Margaret, but each day he saw more and more of her through his daughter. "I'm gonna be just like you when I grow up." Maggie said, suddenly very serious. "I'm gonna fly the big planes." she added. There was no doubt in Thomas' mind that his daughter would be an excellent Marine. "You will be great!" he said honestly as he saluted her. She grinned and copied him perfectly. As he left her room her turned around for one last look before he flipped off the light.
