Booth was running towards her voice. He heard her scream. His legs felt numb, why is this happening? He was running out of breath. He breathed harder and ran faster. He heard her scream again.
"Bones?" Booth flapped his eyes open. Brennan woke to the sound. She got up and put the light on to see a very frightened Booth.
"Booth..." she touched his arm.
"It was bad..really bad" he garbled. "They had you"
"I am here Booth. Right next to you" as if to prove she pulled him down with her, so he lay next against her on the bed. She stroked his sweaty head.
"Go back to sleep. I'm right here."
"I don't wanna.." he shook his head and buried his face in her chest. "Bones..I'm scared."
Brennan held him tightly." Shhh..it's okay baby. I'll never leave you. It is just a bad dream." She said lovingly.
Her words had calmed him and he fell asleep after sometime. Brennan kept thing how vulnerable Booth is when it came to things like that. She pulled the covers over both of them and fell asleep within a minute.
Bones rolled over to see it was it was 6.30 am. She looked at Booth. He moved closer in the direction of the warmth of her. She didn't wait, she moved closer, then slowly rolled to face him, drawing him closer and placed a calming hand on his back. He lay perfectly still as did she, just her gentle touch calming him.
"Hey..Sleepyhead. It's time to go to work" she pressed her lips on his forehead. Immediately she tensed. He felt warm very warm. She untangled herself from him and tried to wake.
"Ow.." he winced in pain. "My whole body hurts".
"Looks like you are having a fever." She ran toward the bathroom and came back with the first aid kit.
She took out a thermometer and check his temperature."99.6. Booth..come on let's get you in the tub.
Brennan helped him out of the bed and into the bathroom. She removed his boxers and assisted him into the tub.
"WO ..HO..It's " Booth cried.
An hour later Booth was in bed clad in a pair of boxer. Brennan made him a light breakfast which he ate with much difficulty. She gve him an Aspro tablet which he needed to reduce his fever.
It looked like the effect of tablet took on him as he was asleep when Brennan came into the room after calling Cam. Brennan smiled a little and got herself seated near Booth. She hoped he would be all right when he wake up.
