Today was a wonderful day to be Kakashi Hatake. The sun was shining, Gai was stuck training his team, and there was a new Icha Icha… Oh, he even had some Genin to fail! Isn't that exciting? Well, he had to get to the academy first. It wouldn't do to fail them without meeting them- otherwise his failure report wouldn't include accurate criticism. Besides, it was his job!
As he opened the door, it struck him that he actually didn't know where classroom A-11 was. The cost of graduating early, he supposed. Still, he was almost certainly the last one here. There weren't any other people here to see him wandering. He had an image to uphold, after all. It shouldn't be difficult to find his team, either. The more he thought about it, the more useful arriving late was. Why didn't more people do it?
Luckily, he got it on the first try. The sound of annoyed children was a dead giveaway. As he opened the door, he performed a mental headcount. Uchiha, check. Random civilian to fill in the numbers, check. Naruto… "What the heck is going on here?"
In the back of the room was a young boy cloaked almost completely in shadow, so that it was difficult to observe his features. This was particularly impressive, considering this was a brightly lit classroom. It wasn't even a genjutsu- unless they were secretly Jonin on the level of his colleague Kurenai, he should have easily detected one as soon as it was cast. Upon further examination, the young boy had what should by all rights have been an eye-searingly bright orange outfit and yellow hair. With the ever-present shadow, however, they seemed dull and muted. This was… weird, to say the least.
In an annoyed but whining voice, the boy- and it was Naruto because he sounds so much like Sensei and Kushina how it hurt- said, "I don't know! I've always been like this! It's super annoying, because I have to wear these weird clothes and always keep my gloves on and everybody always looks at me funny! I even tried getting them in orange, but people still can hardly see me. Even Hokage-Jiji couldn't help, and he brought in doctors who tried everything."
Looking more closely at Naruto, he could see that at the wrists there were some kinds of lines on his arms. Moreover, the rest of his skin appeared to be perfectly flat. "Naruto, just what is up with your arm?"
"I already told you, I don't know! There are just these corners, except the extend a long way so I'm not really sure if that's the right word, and they are really sharp so I have to wear clothes that bend and I'm not supposed to touch people with that." As he said this , he pulled on his shirt arm and showed that the lines, did indeed cover more than just the risk, and Naruto's shirt had little arcs to Go over the edges. Kakashi had no idea what was going on, but he did know that this was going to be a struggle.
