Disclaimer: If I owned this, Kou and Reira wouldn't have died…
Shoryu stared up at the ceiling. His brother was gone. Really, truly, gone. After all those years of sibling rivalry, Kou was gone. After all those years of wishing that his brother would hurry up and die, his wish had finally come true. And Shoryu didn't like it at all. The only person who had ever come close to understanding him was gone.
Unable to sleep, Shoryu stood up, careful not to make any noise that might wake the others up. He walked out to the garden and sat on the ground, not caring whether or not the air was cold and the ground made his trousers wet and dirty.
Onii-san. Why did you leave me alone? You always understood better than the others, you always knew that your otouto (little brother) needed someone to back him up! Why did you leave him, then?
White feathers started to fall. Shoryu looked up at the night sky, eyes glimmering with unshed tears. "Onii-san?" The feathers continued to fall, covering Shoryu and making him feel like his brother was there in person, hugging him after a nightmare. The warmth soon lulled him into a peaceful sleep. "Onii-san…suki desu. (Big brother, I love you.")
The next night, Shoryu slept well. However, the fight with the Yasha the next day left him rattled and uneasy again. He knew that the white feathers falling was a one-time thing, and that it would never happen again but it didn't stop him going to the same place, sitting there, leaning against a tree and staring into the night sky.
~alone~
Kirikaze couldn't sleep. Something was making him restless, unable to keep still. Kou. The jokester had, in their youth, been very close to him and Kirikaze always got this feeling when Kou wanted him to do something really important. Of course, the only things important when they were young were conducting 'raids' on Ryuho and Ryoma and silly things like that. Now, Kirikaze was sure that the important thing that Kou wanted him to get to was Shoryu.
He stood up. "Lead the way," he whispered. White feathers started to fall, showing Kirikaze a trail. When the feathers came to an end, he saw Shoryu sitting on the ground, tears running silently down his face.
"Ryu. Ryu."
Shoryu sat up quickly, wiping the tears from his cheeks. Kirikaze surprised him by bending down and giving him a hug and a small kiss on the cheek. "Kiri…" Kirikaze stuck out his hand, not looking at Shoryu. "Here. Come on, get up."
Shoryu smiled. "Arigato, Kiri." So his brother hadn't left him completely alone after all…
