This is a one-shot about what Severus Snape's POV as he died, looking into Lily's eyes.

Looking Into Her Emerald Eyes

Severus Snape heard a terrible hissing noise, and though he could not understand it, he knew what it meant. A split second later the snake struck, its fangs piercing his neck. He heard himself scream and felt pain like never before. He knees gave way and he fell painfully to the floor, blood gushing from his wounds.
"I regret it" Voldemort said coldly. The words were remorseful but his tone was anything but. Severus tried to stop the blood with his fingers, but to no avail. He saw the Potter boy appear, from where he did not know and it did not matter. Severus knew what he had to do and it warmed his heart to know that his last act would be to help Lily's son. He seized Potter's robes and pulled him closer. A voice that did not sound like his gurgled "Take it. Take it". Severus let his memories pour out for Potter, his head becoming lighter, though he felt his heart slowing. His time was almost up. A flask appeared and his memories were enclosed in it. As he felt himself leaving, his grip slacked on Potter's robes.
"Look at me" he whispered and his black eyes met Lily's mesmerizing green. Memories flashed before him and he relived the emotions that accompanied them. Happiness at meeting a young girl that was willing to become his friend, anger as he saw how Potter looked at her, pain as he realised how his words affected her and jealousy when he saw her and Potter kiss. Severus regretted his life. He wished he could've expressed his feelings to Lily. Maybe then she would have been his, not Potter's. But alas, he could not change the past. His last thought was that he was about to join Lily and maybe, just maybe, she would forgive him. Looking into Lily's emerald eyes, Severus Snape took his last breath.
