"I'll check Aly, you check Alan, my love," George said, patting his wife affectionately on the head.
"I am not a dog, George," Alanna pouted.
"How unfortunate. I've always liked dogs," he grinned, and kissed her on the cheek.
"Enough to marry one?" Alanna jibed.
"Not if I have you, my dear," he told her.
"Aww, you'll make an old Knight's heart soften," Alanna grinned, returning her husband's kiss on the cheek. "Come on, we'll check these children!"
George slid into his daughter's room with practiced ease.
"Hello, princess," he whispered to his sleeping daughter.
Alianne shifted in her sleep, and George picked her up carefully and began to sing.
"My darling daughter, please don't grow up,
Stay young to play amongst the leaves,
Your mother and I love you so much,
My darling daughter, Princess of Thieves.
As your father reaches his peak age,
And your mother shan't swing a sword,
Please my darling, please stay at this stage,
My darling daughter, Princess of Thieves.
Your aunts and uncles bet on your first words,
Your cousins and kinsmen await your first steps,
But darling daughter, break hearts of the lords,
My darling daughter, Princess of Thieves.
The miracle child, daughter of the lout,
The youngest of three, the only young lass,
You'll grow up strong, of this I have no doubt,
My darling daughter, Princess of thieves.
Never forget this one eternal fact,
Daughter of Lioness, Daughter of thieves,
You'll met many men, none of them with tact,
For my Darling Daughter, Princess of thieves.
You'll meet a man, and he'll steal your heart,
Your parents will hate him for catching their child,
But fear not my darling, we'll hate him only in part,
My darling daughter, Princess of Thieves.
We'll love you always, youngest of three,
Our only lass to show off to our friends,
So it makes me proud to hereforth decree,
My darling daughter, Princess of Thieves.
