"Doctor, why did you look so sad when River said she had to go to the Library? She'll be back, right?"
The Doctor ran his palms over his face, trying to wipe away the tears before they came.
"River'll be back, Amy. Just not this River."
He can't say it to her face so he wraps her up in a desperate embrace and chokes the words out into her hair.
"River Song dies in the Library, Amy. She sacrifices herself the first time I met her."
For once, there is silence in the TARDIS while Amy lets it soak in. After a minute, she lifts his head off her shoulder and holds her forehead to his.
"I want to see... where-where... she is. Her grave."
The Doctor gently nods.
On the Library there is a small courtyard filled with a garden. In the center of that garden there is a bench and a tomb (love a tomb), just a casket really. Today the sun shone down upon the courtyard beautifully. Each rose, lily, and fern looked as if Heaven commissioned a spotlight especially for it. Upon the bench sat Amy and Rory. They held each other as if they could blow away. The Doctor stood in front of them, leaning on the sapphire tomb. His silent tears fell.
"Sapphires were her favorite," the Doctor explained. "TARDIS-blue."
All of a sudden, Amy's hands are next to his. She leans her head against the Doctor's shoulder and gazes at the blue stone underneath her hands.
"Thank you."
