4. Lock & Key
Thalia stood next to the light blue shroud. She surveyed the area around her watching as cabins surrounded their loved ones to say good-bye. She didn't watch them for very long turning back to the blonde haired blue eyed boy that was wrapped before her. Annabeth stood next to her along with Grover, Percy and most of the Hermes cabin.
Annabeth wasn't crying per say, but Thalia could see the glossiness in her eyes. Percy stood across from her and she kept glancing up and they would catch the others eyes before blushing and looking away. Thalia was happy for them. Really, she was, but the sight of them made her turn her thoughts back to the man that laid before her.
She fingered a charm on the bracelet that turned into her shield. Looking down she realized that it was the lock charm and key that Luke stole for her birthday. Though, it wasn't really her birthday Since he gave it to her in March.
She looked down at the silver charm remembering his flushed face when he gave it too her so long ago. She felt the familiar prick behind her eyes and her nose start to burn slightly. The way it always does when she's about to cry. She closed her eyes and took a deep calming breath.
She fingered the lock in her fingers, turning it over and over again before unclasping the piece, kissed it and placed it upon his blue covered chest. This was her good-bye. She didn't care that the others were watching, as she whispered under her breath, " I loved you. So much, but I understand." With that she turned on the heel of her boot and strode to the Artemis cabin for some well deserved sleep. Though, she didn't think she could sleep without her key, but she would try.
