            Prologue: An Introduction by Aeris

            Hello! You look like you're new around here! You are? It's nice to meet you! Let me introduce myself. My name is Aeris Gainsborough Gast and I'm 16 years old. I live on Long Island, New York, specifically in a little town called Bayville, with my parents Ifalna and Rune Gast. I attend Bayville High School, and I'm in my sophomore year. I love flowers and nature in general, so I guess it's only natural that I work at the nearby plant nursery. The woman who runs it, Elmyra, says I've got a knack for growing plants; isn't that wonderful?

            Friends? Oh, I've got a bunch of them! My neighbor to the left is Tifa Lockheart, and she is one of my closest friends. She's very pretty but very tough; I wouldn't underestimate her if I were you! My neighbor to the right is Cloud Strife. He's like my big brother! He protects me from anyone who tries to bully me, and is really sweet but kind of shy and snappy if you don't know him well. My other friends are Yuffie Katsuragi, who is impulsive and very into martial arts; Barret Johnson, who looks intimidating but has a kind heart; Cid Highwind, who is quick-witted and funny despite cursing and smoking a lot; Vincent Valentine, who prefers solitude, and is a bit depressive; and last but not least, the foreign exchange student Nanaki, who is in tune with nature as much as I am. And he may not be human, but my cat Red is a great listener and an even better bed warmer! 

            Enemies? Oh my, I don't like to call anyone an enemy. I like to give everyone a chance! I suppose the Turk family may consider me an enemy, though I'd gladly be friends with them if only they'd let me. Who're the Turks? Well, there's the oldest brother Rude, who's a senior; the middle brother in 11th grade, Reno, and the youngest sibling, a girl named Elena. Rude is mostly quiet, but he is really strong and not afraid to prove it. Reno is a troublemaker, pure and simple. He loves to drink, and is the biggest womanizer I have ever met! Elena seems okay; she talks a lot, and gets angry easily. They're all close friends with Tseng Zhi, who is also a senior. Tseng…he's a very cool-headed person. That's what makes him dangerous. There have been a few…incidents…between the Turk family and I. I'm not scared though, I've got Cloud and the rest of my friends to protect me! Enough about them, anyway!     

            Tomorrow is the first day of school after President's Day break. We had a week off, and it was really fun. I helped out at the plant nursery and hung out with my friends. It was nice because I got to hang out with Vincent, who I don't know that well, and Yuffie (I try to keep her out of trouble…it's hard!). But I love my friends, and I love my life. I must be the happiest girl in the world!
