"Cinderpelt! NO!" Leafpool cried as Cinderpelt valiantly fought off the badger trying to kill Sorreltail and her kits. Brackenfur came and helped Cinderpelt fight off the badger. The badge ran off, but it struck a killing blow to Cinderpelt first.

"Cinderpelt! Forgive me. Please. You'll be all right. You'll be fine." Leafpool grabbed some cobwebs and stuck them on Cinderpelts wounds.
Cinderpelt smiled. "It won't do any good. Just promise me Leafpool, help Thunderclan, just help Thunderclan." With a sigh, Cinderpelt died.

"WHY!" Leafpool screeched, oblivious to the fighting cats and badgers around her. "Why Starclan did you have to take her? Did I make the right choice?"

Leafpool stayed up all night after the battle, staying vigil beside Cinderpelt. As morning rose, she slowly sniffed for a last remaining scent of Cinderpelt, but found only death. The elders lowered her into a hole and covered up her body.

Leafpool kept the secret that Spottedleaf had shared with her. She never betrayed it. Even when Cinderpaw hurt her leg again, she never let on, just kept her under a very close eye until she became a warrior.
