"Happy New Year Soldier."
"Happy New Year." the white haired male returned brightly.
"Why in such a good mood? If I may ask." Harley questioned curiously.
Blue laughed softly, "You already did, so I suppose you need an answer." he paused a moment, as though savoring something, then said, "I just have a feeling that this year's going to change things for us."
"How so?" the other raised an eyebrow.
The white haired male raised his hands in a way that stated he didn't know, "It may be we finally get through to the humans."
Skeptically, the blonde asked, "Why the sudden hope in them? I thought it was all about Terra now."
Blue nodded, "Of course Terra would be our greatest goal right now. But having the humans understand us, what we are, that would help us greatly."
"I doubt they'll ever change." Harley muttered bitterly.
Blue smiled, "You never know, it's a new year after all."
"And you really think that changes anything?"
"Maybe." the white haired male shrugged, "Nothing wrong with hoping."
Harley made a non-committal sound, and after a moments silence asked, "Why do you even bother? It'd be easier for us to drop all contact, wouldn't it? Look at how well off we've been so far."
Blue glanced at his companion, and shook his head, smiling, "They'd never stop until we were all dead. But if we renew contact, keep it up; perhaps we'll reach someone who understands. That's the only chance we have for peace."
"And if this time next year we're worse off then we are now?"
Again Blue shrugged, "Well if you want to be gloomy about it..." he murmured.
"No, just realistic."
"Pessimistic one might say."
Rolling his eyes the other snapped, "Then you're far too optimistical!" Now the white haired male frowned, ruby eyes studying the other intently, "Look, I-I'm sorry." He muttered, unnerved by the other male's gaze, "It's just, we've been trying for so long already and nothing's happening..."
Blue smiled once more, and turned, eyes seeming to focus on something no one else could see, "That's all going to change soon."
A/N: There ya have it. And if you're wondering why Blue's so happy-it's cause this is the year Jomy joins them. In the manga Blue apparently senses Jomy even before he's born, so I figured that if he's been watching him so long-well, you get the idea. And the fact this occurs on New Years is simply because well...it's New Years here. n.n Please let me know what you thought of it!
