Water and Fire
Summary: Water and fire. They are opposites, yet they cannot coexist without the other.

They both knew this to be true. Even though they were opposite from each other, they thrived for the other. They acted as a balance, for they could not coexist without the other.
Ami.
She loved to study and she was very shy. Before Rei came along, all she did was study. Boys and girls alike talked about her, but not in a positive way. Because of this, she shut herself off from the world and continued to study to achieve her dream. More people began to think that she was showing off and making herself look like the best of them all. Then one day, she became Sailor Mercury. She was still studious, but her habit gradually lessened. Eventually, she met Rei. It was obvious that they weren't the same. That was why she fell in love with her.
Rei.
She was a solitary person. She wasn't afraid to express herself and she always said what was on her mind. She never really showed that side of her when she heard others talk about her, which was a fatal mistake. Her days alone gave people the impression that she was better then them. Even so, she said nothing and continued her work as a miko. Then, she became Sailor Mars. She gained friends and expressed herself. That was when she finally met Ami. She quickly realized how different they were. Maybe that was why she fell in love with her.
Ami and Rei.
They were alike in some ways, but were still very different. Ami controlled water. Rei controlled fire. Ami wanted to feel the burning flames. Rei wanted to feel the cold water. They were both craving something from the other. When they got what they wanted, they became addicted. Ami felt the burning flames. The flames evaporated the water. Rei felt the cold water. The water extinguished the flames. That was what they wanted. They acted as a balance. They knew that they, like water and fire, could not coexist without the other.
