Everything seemed normal as Gibbs arrived at work on the Monday morning with a coffee in his hand. The sun was shining through the windows of NCIS and no one else had arrived yet.
Kate came into the office with a smile across her beautiful features, she walked past her boss, "Morning Gibbs", she said politely, with hint of mischief in her voice.
He grinned, he loved to her her voice, but then again, he loved all of her, her gorgeous eyes, her beautiful brunette hair and her radiant smile, "Morning Kate", he said looking up at her, then he stopped and stared at her in shock.
Her hair wasn't brunette anymore, it was red.
Kate smiled at him, standing in front of his desk now, "You like it?"
He just stared, so she frowned and went and sat down, obviously upset, she'd only dyed her hair to try and get his attention but now, he didn't even like that.
Gibbs moved to her, "Why'd you do it Kate?"
She kept her eyes focused on her desk, "I was being stupid, I thought that if I was a redhead, you might love me like I love you, I'm sorry Gibbs I shouldn't have said or done anything, I was being...delusional to think you could love me"
Gibbs moved forward and cupped her cheek making her look up at him, "Of course I love you but I prefer you as you, I prefer the real you, the brunette you, not this" he said softly, fingering her red locks, with a smile.
Kate smiled, looking up at him with her eyes full of hope, "Really?"
He nodded and pulled her up to stand between his legs, as he now sat on the edge of her desk, he wrapped his arms around her petite waist, and nodded, "Yep!"
She smiled, "I love you too Jethro", she said as he pressed his lips to hers in a loving kiss.
They both knew, she wouldn't be a redhead for very long.
