I was one of the many forest creatures called Kikwi created by Her Grace Hylia. I lived among them, and developed a characteristic or two that set me apart from them. I was the last survivor of the first generation of the Kikwi, thus I became the elder to the second generation. During this time, monsters attacked the forest, but a boy in a green tunic and green pointed hat saved us. Sometime after this boy left, the Water spirit Faron flooded our home to drive out the remaining monsters. The boy in green appeared afterwards and convinced Faron to drain the forest. One of the second generation Kikwi, named Oolo, was shortly afterwards carried away by a flying robot who seemed to work with the green hero. The hero also told us of an outcast Kikwi named Yerbal who lived in the great tree. I moved into the great tree to meet this outcast. After meeting him, I remained in the tree and slowly became one with it.
The Kikwi soon evolved into the forms of immortal children whom I called Kokiri. They dressed in green tunics to honor the green hero. An injured woman entered the forest one night with a baby and begged me to care for it. One of my children, Saria was her name, raised the baby as her own. Sixteen years hence, this boy whose name was Link became the Hero of Time. I temporarily died protecting the forest from a dark King named Ganondorf, but was reborn as a sprout seven years later. My child Saria became the forest sage briefly during the war against Ganondorf, but later became mortal and passed the powers onto another Kokiri child of mine named Mido, who was seeking to redeem himself for being rude to the other Kokiri. Shortly after the war, Link and Saria fell in love. I married them myself, and gave them my blessing. For years my children and I heard of tales of other heroes, such as the Hero of Twilight and the Hero of Legend, before the Goddesses flooded Hyrule to protect us from Ganon, as Faron had done to wash away the monsters of the forest. The Kokiri evolved into miniature trees called Koroks, and flew around the world spreading the forest tree by tree. For years we spread the forest across different islands, until a boy in green came to the island. Oh, how he reminded me of my adopted child Link. He helped me by saving my Korok child Makar. On a second visit, Makar left with the boy and became the Sage of Wind. Only one Korok, Hollo, is still here to accompany me, he likes to mix boko seeds and forest water to make potions. I witnessed Hyrule's drowning and Ganon's final death. Even now, I feel my life slipping away. My final time has come to pass on. Goodbye, Hollo. Goodbye, Faron.
I look forward to seeing my friends and lost children again. Oolo, Makar, Link and Saria, Fado, Mido, Machi, Lopsa, Erla. Though I am known to all as the Great Deku Tree, I wish to be remembered by my original name, Bucha.
