Kylen could taste the metallic sweetness on his lip. He wiped the dripping blood from his sliced chin. Iron Bull and the Inquisitor were taking on Corphyeus in the front lines, while Vivienne and Dorian assaulted from the back. The wind was swirling around the massive broken piece of land they all stood on. The breach still active in the distance. Lights flashing and blades flying on all sides as the Inquisition soldiers fought off demons. Kylen desperately stabbing with his knives to no avail. In one sweep the Ancient Darkspawn releases an energy wave that takes out Vivienne.
"Vivienne!" Kylen cries as he witnessed the ice mage slam into a large pile of rubble. She doesn't move or even twitch. Iron Bull glanced over at her lifeless body and thats all it took. Corypheus took the opening. He used his powers to rise three large red lyrium shards from the ground and sent them hurling towards Bull. He managed to block the first two but the third impaled him right through the chest.
"Bull!" Kylen cried out, but there was nothing he could do. If he stopped attacking, even for a second, he'd be dead.
"S-Sorry Boss..." Bull stammered as he staggered back and fell over with a thud. The rogue tried not to think about what follows next. Their tank was down and another blow was about to strike. The young rogue dashed back and forth around Corypheus stabbing and trying desperately to keep the aggression on him. It worked but only for a second. Corypheus rose his claw in the air and brought it down with one giant sweep. All Kylen could hear were rocks crashing to the ground. He dashed around to the backside of Corypheus to see if his lover was alright. He had broken off a large section of the platform which was swept up into the churning winds that surrounded them. This made the battlefield much more dangerous. Fortunately, the Darkspawn Lord missed Dorian and he was still standing (thank The Maker). Kylen took a deep breath and continued. Just as the rogue was about to dip his knives in his poison, he was hit by one of the flying rocks. Kylen was sent flying to the south side of the battlefield, into the large crowd of fighting soldiers and demons. Filled with adrenaline and fury, Kylen had had enough. Picking himself up, he set his malicious gaze toward the magister. The rogue darted forward closing the space in between him and his enemy. Just as he reached the halfway mark, his gaze took another target. Dorian. He was wide open and. Corypheus raised his claw in the air again and with a light flick of his wrist, a large stone spike rose suddenly from underneath Dorian. It carved through his chest, lifting his dangling body in the air. Blood poured from the spike and Dorian went limp.
"NOOOO DORIAN!" Kylen shrieked so loud that a few of the soldiers stopped fighting to see what what had transpired. His whole team was gone. Even the love of his life. This fucker needed to die. The rogue was filled with such emotion, such rage that he tore through the the remaining distance in seconds. Just as the rogue extended his arms to land a massive blow, Corypheus reached down and grabbed him by his throat. His grotesque claws squeezed around the mortal's esophagus. Corypheus had won. They had failed. The magister let out a low demented laugh as he crushed the air from his wind pipe. Everything went black.
Kylen jumped violently from his slumber. Like a zombie, he slowly sat up in his bed and took a deep breath. The nightmare was always the same. Sweat droplets slipped down the arch of his back as he swept his legs over the side of the bed. The stone slab floor felt like a frozen lake under his toes. He dropped his head to his hands and could feel dampness on his brow. Kylen hadn't slept well since they arrived at Skyhold. He struggled with getting a full night's rest, after all, there were so many lives at stake. Hell, the world was at stake.
