How could he refuse?

Takeshi Inuyashiki's older sister had two costly tickets for a private bus trip.

It was the lovey-dovey sort of tour where lovers would be brought from one place to another on a big bus. And all of a sudden he was being forced to accompany her.

Mari Inuyashiki had always been adventurous. In other words, she liked to travel a lot. Mari's then-boyfriend was very aware of that, and he pleasantly surprised her with tickets for a three-days trip.

However, the programme changed when Mari learnt that her boyfriend had not been faithful to her and was sleeping around with another girl. He pleaded for a pardon, saying the undisclosed relationship was not anything special to him and that he loved Mari more, but Mari was not the merciful sort (particularly when it came to dishonesty). He even gave Mari both of the tickets as a gesture of goodwill.

Mari still refused to forgive him, but she did not want to waste the tickets either. Also, she was really thrilled for a tour like this as it included enjoyable outdoor activities and pretty landscapes. She could not bring any of her female buddies because the trip for some reason only allowed a male and female duo. And she was unwilling go with any of her male acquaintances since it might convey unwanted dating signals.

Their mother and father heard Mari asking her brother Takeshi to accompany her, and they pushed him to agree, even though he continually refused. Their mother and father thought it would be an excellent brother-sister bonding time since Mari and him seldom spent time together.

So, Takeshi was given the second ticket, and he could not refuse.
