Gwen tucked one arm behind her head, staring straight up at the ceiling above her. She wished she hadn't been voted off yet, but her time had come. Thrown off the plane, she didn't care about losing the game anymore. All she cared about was that she and Duncan were once again apart. She had no idea where in the world he was. Literally!
Still aboard the Total Drama Jumbo Jet, Gwen just wished she was there with him.
Staring out the window, hours wasted thinking about the one boy who she was waiting to return to her. He would be out of the game soon enough, Gwen knew that. A few more challenges, a couple more weeks. Then Duncan would get the boot and arrive at Hawaii with the rest of the losers from the show. Back to her.
It was hard to sleep at night for Gwen. Her mind kept thinking back over all the amazing memories she had. All the times Gwen was given the stares, the looks, the glances, Duncan was there to put a smile straight back on her face. He always knew how to get her through the hard times.
Waiting for love is an endless thing, but it is always worth it. Gwen believed that everything that was coming back to her was worth the wait. If Duncan came back with a million dollars or not, she couldn't wait to see him again.
She refused to turn her TV on and watch the rest of the show. It brought back too many sad memories and too much yearning for her boyfriend.
Thinking about him helped, knowing that he was coming back for her. They hadn't even had a proper goodbye and one more kiss was all she was asking for. But Gwen would get what she desired soon, she needed to be patient about it.
As the news spread through the hotel, just like it did every time someone got the boot, it finally reached Gwen.
"I thought you would have been the most excited of all?" Bridgette chimed. The smile on the Goth girls face agreed with her. Gwen could simply not wait to see Duncan at the front door of the hotel, checking in. She was going to be the first person he saw; she was going to make sure of it.
She waited in the lobby all day, simply waiting for him to arrive. The moment playing out so many times in her mind. It changed every time. From sappy jumping into his arms, him spinning her around, to a simple smile and fist bump because they were still best friends.
And when the moment came, where Duncan entered the hotel and Gwen was waiting for him. They smiled. Their eyes collided instantly and they smiled. Frozen in time, just the two of them because no one else mattered.
Duncan dropped him duffle bag to the floor, "Do I get a hug or what?" And without a second to spare, Gwen dived into his arms. Pulling him close to her and thanking the lord for bringing him back to her at long last.
They were lucky to be in love with their best friend.
