The room had only one light on, the little lamp on the desk, which a tall, blonde man was leaning over. It was silent, since he was the only occupant and the cool night breeze drafted in through the open window. The silence was suddenly broken when he gave a harsh growl and ripped up some paper before throwing it across the room towards the bin.
Running a hand through his untidy blonde spikes, he sat again in silence, staring at the new sheet of blank paper. His right hand tapped the pen it held against the table as his eyes glanced at the clock and then at the calender.
February fourteenth. Valentine's Day. The day he dreaded more than any other. In the past it had been because he had to watch everyone pair up for the school dance while he was left alone, hoping that someday a girl would ask him. It never happened.
Now he dreaded it for that very reason. The fact that now he had to tell, or show how much that special woman meant to him. Why was it always so easy for the men in movies to just go up to their woman and tell them their feelings? It wasn't fair.
He had sat at his desk, with the whole speech planned out in his head. However, since he knew when he actually knocked on her door and she answered he would become a nervous wreck and would never be able to get the words out. That was why he was writing it on a letter. The only problem was, it didn't sound as good on paper, or rather look.
Finally, he gave up and just scribbled something on and folded it up before he changed his mind again. He slipped on his shoes and made his way out into the corridors towards her room, staring at the wood for a moment, as if it would give him the courage he needed before he knocked.
He was blushing long before she answered the door and he kept his eyes averted from her as he handed over the paper.
"Cloud?" she questioned as she took it from him but he didn't answer, except for his cheeks turning even darker as he heard her taking a big breath. Then before he knew what he was doing he grabbed her, pressing his mouth against hers. He didn't dare to leave it for more than a minute before he backed off.
"I love you, Aerith," he repeated the exact words he had written for her in the letter before he turned and walked away.
After a moment, however, he heard her calling after him and her footsteps echoing along the hall. he really thought she was going to slap him for his actions, which was why he was surprised when she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him closer to her.
"I love you too Cloud," she whispered, nuzzling her head into his shoulder.
