The Ninja Who Loved Me
Chapter 1: Innocent Blood Spilt
Author's note: Hello, everyone! I'm glad that for whatever reason brought you here, that you are here and reading my story!
OK, this is my second Naruto story and I'm so excited! A year ago I started watching it and it's now one of my very favorite animes ever! Naruto now means more to me than anything in the world, and it's my complete world. It might just even be my favorite now that I gave up on Inuyasha after Kikyo died.
Also I re-edited this like crazy. I've changed a lot of things and since the last time I updated, I thought a lot about what was going wrong with the story originally and now after a hiatus has gone by for the story, I decided to come back and re-edit to make it better. I have to say I was not satisfied with the ending of Naruto as a whole, so I'm making my own version. One where Sasuke and Sakura are not endgame, because I still don't believe in that for one second. Never have, never will.
Also, the main couple in this story of mine is Sasuke and my OC, Makina, if you get confused with what she looks like, here it is.
Makina and Sasuke in this story are both 12.
Hair color: Black, long, and As a kid, her hair is black and is a simple ponytail and is straight.
Eye color: Blue.
Of The Hidden Eclipse Village
Jutsu: Water Style and Fire Style, and the power of Draco the Sun Dragon, the spirit of the demon inside of her.
Powers: Her main weapons are the two swords that were saved from her village. She carries them both on her back, and they are both of medium size. The Sword of the Fire Spirits of the Sun Haruki, and the Sword of the Water and Ocean Spirits of the Moon, Nanami. With them, one is master of the sky itself. One's handle is golden and is decorated in rubies and emeralds on it as well. The jewels are in the shapes of diamonds. The end of the sword is a flaming Sun. The other's handle is pure silver and is like the other sword, decorated with diamonds and sapphires. The end is the symbol of the ocean. One more thing, she has a red tattoo of the Dragon, the animal spirt of the clan, born into a child once every 100 years. Makina is that child, and it is on the majority of her back because it is very large, but she is ashamed of it and hides it.
Outfit: Dark blue short sleeve kimono shirt with a black tanktop underneath. Over it is a black jacket with black belt and black pants like Tsunade's accept they go down to her knees and below her knees is the wrapping that every ninja has. Her jacket is with the symbol of the Eclipse Clan on the back, which is a silver Half Sun and Half Moon together on the back. And the Headband of the Eclipse Village, which she wears occasionally to hide her identity. And black sandals like every Ninja wears below the ninja wraps. The outfit she wears to the party is like Sakura's look but it's black, is shorter with red flowers and is cooler.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto, (cries hysterically) but I do own Makina, who tells the story.
It started with blood. Innocent blood.
My name is Makina Saitou, but the last name really died out a very long time ago, and all that is left now is really my name. The family that I loved is dead, completely dead, and I'm the only one left. A little girl with a name meaning machine. The last name of my family, haunts me to this very day. My gorge rises at it. But the last name was the reason I became what I am today. Whether it was the right decision or not, I will never know. I am truly ashamed at the life I have chosen to live, but it was the only life I had ever known. A life ruled by only one thing: revenge. Not just my family, but my entire village is dead. Everyone I knew, everyone I loved, everyone that made up the Hidden Village in the Eclipse is dead. They were all murdered in cold blood. One day they came and took the only world I had ever known from me. I was so young and naive. What happened that night, I thought it was just a cruel and horrible joke that my brothers would play on me. How much did I want to believe that. And how naive I was, foolish even. A little girl such as I was shouldn't have experienced what I did that day.
Before that horrible night, the Eclipse Village was located in a certain place high in the mountains. Eventually, some people thought the Eclipse Village was nothing more than a fairy tale lost in history, which of course wasn't true in the least. The Eclipse Village was believed to be created by the people of the Sun and Moon thousands of years ago, including Yuki Dai, the founder of the Village and the first Sunakage. The Sunakage was the Head of the Village. The Eclipse Village was originally called the Hidden Village of the Sun and Moon in honor of the people who had founded our village. But after experiencing a true Eclipse of the Sun and the Moon, it became the Eclipse Village instead. That was years ago. Eventually, many searches were conducted in order to find the people of the Sun and Moon and welcome them with open arms. But those searches went very unsuccessfully. The search parties were convinced that finding them was a lost cause. But my father always told me that he was convinced that they were still alive and that they were living out their lives on their own.
When I was seven years old, the Village was full of Shinobi. We were like any Village: young students went to the academy, graduated and became Shinobi, and went on missions on different levels, depending on their level as Shinobi. Only a few other villages knew of the existence of the Eclipse Village. And those who did knew that the Ninja of the Village were some of the strongest in all the five great Nation. They were quite gifted, and anyone who came out of the Academy became a very powerful and strong Ninja. I had seen so many people become so strong and powerful, and I watched them in awe as I grew up. I know I did, and so many other of my friends also watched them. The reason they were so strong was because everyone in the Village possessed the Eye of the Sky. An ancient trait in the Village that gave you a powerful connection with the sun and moon. I knew from a very small age that I wanted to be one of them. I knew them so well because my father was the Sunakage.
Five years ago, the Eclipse Village's Sunakage was my father, Ren Saitou. Not only was he the leader of our village, he was also the leader of the Saitou Clan, which resided in the highest part of the Village. The Saitou Clan was one of the most powerful clans in our Village. It truly was the Heart of our village. Our clan was known for our ability to use the energy of the Sun and Moon, and turn it into chakra and use it in not only combat, but also using the chakra in our swords. Only the leader of our clan could use the ancient swords of Haruki and Nanami. It all depended on our chakra nature. The Saitou Clan were experts in these techniques, and were the swordsmen of the village. Everyone else used different techniques. The Saitou Clan were expert swordsmen, and were the pride of the village. Almost everyone came to my parents and my older brothers to learn the ways of the Saitou and apply it to their ways of fightng. After they did that, they became much stronger ninjas and protectors of our village.
The village itself is represented by a Dragon, a demon spirit forged in the sun and moon. This demon called Draco, attacked the Village many years ago and was sealed into the first Sunakage's body in order to keep it from ever harming anyone ever again. Over the years and after many, many attempts by the first Sunakage, Draco was calmed by being inside another person and the first Sunakage and Draco became the best of friends. Draco even allowed him to use his powers and that made him one of the most powerful Shinobi in all the land. Draco became the symbol of our village and was accepted by everyone. But when the first Sunakage grew old and close to death, he made plans to release Draco back into the world. Draco, having grown so accustomed to being one with another person, was very hesitant to let go of his old friend and comrade. The Sunakage insisted since Draco had been a prisoner for so many years, he deserved to be free. Draco still refused, saying that he wanted to protect the people of the Eclipse Village for many generations to come and give his power to one who was deserving. And so on his deathbed, the First Sunakage honored his friend's wishes and after he passed away, it was decreed that a child born on the day of the Eclipse every hundred years would be the body that Draco would be sealed inside of. After the first Sunakage passed away, the next child that was born on the Eclipse would be gifted Draco's spirit and that boy would grow up to be one of a very long line of Sunakage.
And so, every one hundred years, a person in the village is chosen to have the spirit of Draco sealed inside of them, where he will remain sleeping until the user is ready to use his power or when he deems the person worthy to use it. That child would have the title of the Eclipse child and would become the strongest Shinobi in the village and eventually, be the one to hold the highest position in the entire land, the Sunakage.
And so when I was born, I was chosen as the one who would be the host for Draco's spirit. Of course, Draco never appeared for me as a child. I didn't even know that there was such a creature inside of me until I was eleven years old. My family never told me, probably because I was too young and naive to understand that a dragon's spirit was inside my body. But I think the more likely reason was because as a child, I was probably the absolute worst Ninja trainee in the history of the village. My parents named me Makina because they believed I would be tough as nails and fight like a machine due to Draco's spirit.
They were wrong.
My older brothers told me that it was nothing to worry about and that I would become better when I got older, I knew that they were just trying to be kind to me. I didn't understand why I was so terrible compared to the other children. I really couldn't build up chakra very well and I always hesitated when throwing weapons because I was always afraid of hitting another person or hurting myself as well. I really was the worst ninja trainee and my brothers were just too fond of me to tell me. My parents often looked very disappointed of me and even though they didn't say anything, they didn't have to.
My brothers, Toshiro and Daisuke, were some of the strongest Shinobi in the village. My parents were extremely proud of them and to be fair, they had every right to be proud. They were very skilled in the art of ninjutsu, taijutsu, and as is common in our village, utilizing the energy of the Sun and Moon. Compared to my older brothers, I was a complete failure. No matter how hard they tried, they really couldn't help me get over my extreme fear of violence. The Saitou family had a long history of being the strongest Shinobi in the village and as the Saitou child with Draco inside of her, I couldn't be more of a disappointment to my family. Daisuke, however, was determined to not give up on me.
When Daisuke was alive, he was my very best friend in the world. Of course I was entirely close with my entire family, but Daisuke was the one I spent every moment with, because he was my Sensei, and of course my closest friend. Daichi and Toshiro were in charge of training the entire school of children that were in the Village of the Eclipse. My father had appointed both of his sons to teach the children of the Village the instant that he became Sunakage. He thought that having someone close to me could help with my terrible skills as a student. After Daisuke and Toshiro took over the school, it was actually beginning to work. My previous instructors were never very patient with me and often gave up with me. Toshiro and Daisuke were determined to make me the best student I could be. I was beginning to actually get better and I actually thought that I would be the pride of the family one day.
Until that day, that completely destroyed my life forever. When they came and took everything from me.
"And when I eventually retire Little Sister, you will be the Leader of this Village," Daisuke said to me on that horrid night.
I remember that night like it was only yesterday.
"But what if I'm not even worthy of the Sunakage nii-san?" I said. "I'm only 8 years old now."
"I almost forgot!" he said. "Your birthday is tomorrow isn't it?"
I nodded happily.
"And it means you're eight now, but when you're eighteen, you'll be free to travel the world and see the Five Nations."
"You visited them all?" I asked.
"That's how I got so strong after all, Little Sister," he said, pointing to his headband. "I traveled, and I learned."
"Where did you go?"
"Everywhere. But my favorite place that I went was Konoha, which has the Hidden Village in the Leaves."
"That's in the Land of Fire, right?"
"Hai, little sister!"
"But that's so far away!" I said, laughing.
I was so hidden from the world, I wasn't even sure what Land we were in. I envied my brothers and their freedom. They were able to go anywhere that they wanted and because they were so powerful, they could handle themselves out there. Father often sent them out into the world to maintain peace and order, check on allies in other lands, and to bring resources back to the village. Daisuke and Toshiro would often stay up late with me and tell me their adventures, the people they met, the girls whose hearts they broke, and the beauty of the lands they traveled to.
"Well, you'll never be too far away from home, Makina," he said kindly. "Come on, I want to show you something."
I climbed onto my brother's back and he always made sure that I was always well supported since it was hard for me to walk at times. He looked back at me and smiled, and I smiled back at him. And he started running and it was hard for me to tell where we were going because it was so dark, and because my eyes were closed as we ran across town and out of our Manor's garden.
"Daisuke?"
"Hmm?"
"Where are we going now?"
He laughed. "It's a surprise, but you have to wait and see."
"You know how much I hate waiting!" I said. More like I hated being in the dark.
He laughed again. "I know but please bear with me."
I rolled my eyes, and closed them to please my brother so that we could get to this mysterious place faster. I felt him running very quickly and fast, which made me nervous at first but I knew my brother would never let me fall, so I wasn't worried in the least. Nevertheless, I held on to him tighter than before. It made me feel more safe.
"Are we there yet?" I asked impatiently.
"Patience is a virtue, Makina!" he said laughing.
"Since when?" I demanded.
He couldn't stop laughing. "Never mind. You're still too young to have patience, Hitomi!"
"Excuse me?"
"Never mind," he said. "Open your eyes! We're here!"
I did as I was told, and saw the most beautiful shrine.
It may have been very old and been there for a long time, but it was still so beautiful, covered with lilies and lilacs. The grass was so green and across the shrine was a small bridge that was over a sparkling stream.
"Big Brother?" I asked.
"Hmmm?"
"What is this place?"
"Well, lets just say it's something that only the Saitou Family knows about," he said, and then turned his head to face me. "Feel like standing?"
I nodded and he let me down so I could stand, even if it wasn't very well.
"This Makina, is the Shrine of Makina Dai, the greatest of our clan, who was the greatest Sunakage who died defending this village, and yes, you were named after her."
"So, maybe I can be as strong as you, big brother?"
He laughed. "Not on your life, Makina!"
"Oh, come on!"
"Anyway, my main point of bringing you up here, is because you have an amazing destiny you must fore fill and because you were born on the day of the Eclipse of the Sun and Moon. You are not an ordinary child, my sister. One day you will become one of the strongest Ninja alive, and you'll be able to travel the world and get stronger. And maybe if you wish, you could not only become Sunakage, but also have a well thought out fight between me and Toshiro, and maybe perhaps win!"
I scoffed. "I could take you any day big brother!"
"I'm sure, Makina!" he said, and picked me up and I hugged him tightly.
The only thing I really got out of all of that, was really having a fight with my two elder brothers. They were the top of the Village and were strong beyond all compare. To beat them, would mean I was truly strong. And to beat them and be acknowledged to be something other than their little sister, would be the most important thing to ever happen to me. But I was so weak and such a coward that that would never happen to me.
"You'll understand someday, Makina," he said. "I wasn't born on the Eclipse, but I was still destined to protect this village as you are. It's our home, and it's home to some of the strongest Ninja and also the home of our family. You have to learn to be able to give your life for this village, even during the toughest of times. But as I said, you're too young to worry about this, you still need to become a Ninja first and then become strong like me!"
"I understand, Big Brother!" I said with a smile.
Daisuke, for me, had more wisdom and insight than anyone in the village, and that included our father. As much as I loved my father, I knew that he was very disappointed in me and was sad that I wasn't a child prodigy like his other two children.
"I know that you think you're not strong, Makina, but soon, you will be."
"But you and Toshiro have always been strong since the very beginning. Father says that you were child prodigies when you were my age, the top of your class! He's so proud of both of you and look at me: the daughter of the Saitou family and I can't even perform one Jutsu correctly. What does that tell you?"
He then got down to my level and put both of his hands on my face.
"Makina, not everyone can be child prodigies. You're very young and you're not experienced with the world or your powers yet. But when you get a chance to finally use them, you'll see how powerful you really are. You're a Saitou, Makina, and that means you're destined for greatness. I have no doubt that when you're my age, you'll be one of the most powerful Shinobi in the whole village. But please, promise me that you'll be patient and not be upset with yourself just because you're not as powerful as Mother and Father. One day you will bond with the Phoenix inside of you and become more powerful than anyone here. That I truly believe my little sister. Chin up, alright?"
I nodded and he smiled, ruffling my hair.
Then all of a sudden his smile disappeared, and he looked towards the village.
"What is it?"
He looked back at me, and all of a sudden, I smelled smoke.
"Big Brother..."
"Makina," he said seriously. "Don't move from this spot until I come back to get you. Do you understand me?"
"Hai."
"I'll be back as soon as I can."
And with those words, he was gone.
I was too young to realize something had gone horribly wrong down at my village. I was too young to do anything about it, and more importantly, I was too naive to think that everything was going to be alright, when it really wasn't going to be. How naive and stupid I was as a child. I learned that in the most horrible way.
I looked down at the Holy Shrine that Daichi had brought me to, and I found some more flowers to put on her grave. Hitomi Dai, who I was named after, became my new hero after hearing her story from my Big Brother, and I knew that someday, I would become just like her. But my childhood dreams were interrupted as I heard screaming coming from the village. And even my mind knew that something was wrong, and I know Daichi told me to stay here until he came to get me, but someone sounded as if they were in absolute pain. I needed to help them, even though I was small and weak, and before I could run, I heard voices, and I knew that I needed to hide. And sadly before I could hide, someone grabbed me and covered my mouth, preventing me from screaming. And I closed my eyes in fear, because I knew that I was going to die.
There was so much blood everywhere. They killed every person in our village. Even the children. What kind of monsters slaughter children for fun? There was nothing but lifeless bodies lying around, some whole and some in pieces. Some in groups, some alone. Who could have done such a thing? I had no idea. I was just confused as to how this could have even happened. While there were dozens of ninja running around the village killing and slaughtering people and setting fire, it was clear who the architects of this horrific crime were.
I felt the tears running down my face. I then was thrown to the ground and I saw my family being held hostage. My mother and father, my aunts, uncles, cousins, my grandparents, and Toshiro and Daisukei, and as soon as I saw them, the tears ran down my face even more.
"Mom! Dad!" I cried, and I rushed towards them, but I was blocked by Kunai Knife being thrown right in front of me.
I looked up at the most horrifying pair of eyes I had ever seen. They were twisted and a sickly yellow looking color. They were so hollow and so lifeless. He looked at me with those eyes almost as if I was a meal for him to eat. He looked me over in a way that horrifying, like I was a new experiment. I saw the many possibilities he had as to what to do with me. He licked his lips in a sadistic smile and he chuckled upon looking me up and down. I had no idea what he wanted or how he even found our village. I was terrified. I had never known terror like this before. It was almost like looking at a snake who had caught his prey and was playing around with it.
He grabbed me and handed me to a man with white hair. He held me close to him and held the knife close to my throat.
"One more step," he said in my ear. "And I'll make you afraid of yourself."
I nodded in fear, not knowing any better.
Another man came up behind me and the man holding me at knife point. He was large and had a very menacing look to him.
"Keep the misssssserable brat quiet," said the man with the yellow eyes. "Sssssseend the young looking man forward."
That voice made me shake with fear. I never wanted to hear him speak again.
Then one of the men standing behind Toshiro pushed him forward.
"What is your business here?" Toshiro demanded. "We are a peaceful village, and we don't understand why you treat us as if we're savages. Please, as the Son of Ren, please leave at..."
Then a woman with pink hair at the approval of the man with yellow eyes.
"We will decide when we leave not you. In case you hadn't noticed, you're not at much liberty to make such demands."
"BIG BROTHER!" I screamed, only to have the grip on me tightened.
"QUIET BRAT!" the white haired man said, now showing more marks on the left side of his face.
"Now, Tosssssshiro Sssssssaitou, where is the Eclipse born child?" the man with yellow eyes demanded.
Toshiro stopped moving at the question.
"He died."
I looked at Daisuke.
"He died in childbirth seven years ago. There is no eclipse born child."
"See, why don't I believe you?" the large man with red hair said, grabbing Daichi and throwing him to the ground. "I can sense it here, as does our lord, and he needs it for great power."
Once again, I couldn't do anything to protect my brother.
"Daichi!" I cried out. Daichi, as he always did, remained stoic and calm.
"It's OK, Makina," he said. "I'm OK. It's going to be alright."
Even I could tell he was lying.
The large man grabbed him by his kimono and was inches away from his face.
"If you don't tell us now, you will watch your as your family dies!"
Daisuke's eyes widened in horror and looked back at Father, demanding an answer. After a few moments of thinking, he finally said:
"Don't tell them anything," he said. "I will die protecting that person if I have to."
"Very well," the man with the spiky brown hair said. "You will be the first to die then!"
I was so young, and those that are so young, shouldn't have to see things as horrid as this, but I was doomed to. The man emerged from the shadows, grabbed my father's head and to my great horror, grew an extra set of arms and crushed my father's skull with the added pressure. I will never forget how my father screamed that day. And I, an innocent seven year old, witnessed my father's murder. My father collapsed and blood spilt from his head, and Mom screamed as he fell to the ground.
"FATHER!" Daichi tried to move towards him, but was blocked.
"What do you want with us?" Mom asked, tears running down her face.
But she was killed as well, without an answer, by a blow to the chest. The man with yellow eyes had pierced her heart with his fist.
"MOM!" I screamed.
I cried for my mother and for the unborn child inside of her that would never be born into this world. Yuki would never get to experience how beautiful the world was.
Eventually everyone was killed in torture, each one saying not to tell who the Eclipse Child was, and in each in turn, was killed. I watched as my family was murdered and innocent blood was spilt all over our home, and I could do nothing but scream and cry. I didn't understand why any of them wouldn't just tell them the truth. All that was left was Toshiro and Daisuke, who were fighting for their lives with everything they had.
"Neither of you have any chakra left, how do you intend to fight?" the large man asked, mocking my two brothers.
"I will die defending this village!"
"And I will die alongside my brother!"
"Toshiro! Daisuke!" I cried, struggling against the deformed man with white hair. "PLEASE DON'T FIGHT HIM! I CAN'T LOSE YOU AS WELL!"
They looked at me, and saw the fear and pain in my eyes. And in that moment, Toshiro was stabbed in the back by the woman with pink hair, and fell to the ground in pain.
"Makina..." he gasped, somehow smiling through till the end. "I love... you...my...sister..."
And he spoke no more.
All that remained was my brother. The one I had looked up to and idolized. He was the only one that remained.
The man with the yellow eyes locked in gaze with Daisuke, who stood so proud and stoically, despite the obvious tears that fell down his face at what he had just witnessed. He cackled the most horrifying laugh I had ever heard. I had no idea what corrupted this man to do what he did tonight, but it was clearly too much to even consider. He licked his lips again after gathering me in his arms. He wrapped his large hand around my tiny throat, and I knew what was coming.
"Now Daisssssuke Sssssaitou, will you watch this girl die as well?" he laughed.
I closed my eyes and prepared for death.
"Wait!"
"Yesssssss?"
"Whatever you may do to me, let the girl live. Please, she's the only one left. Let me die, just not her."
"You would let your family die but not this one girl?" the large man said mockingly.
"If I tell you who the Eclipse child is, will you please let her live?"
He hesitated, but eventually nodded.
"It's me, so please, take me as your prisoner and let the girl go."
"I don't take liars as prisoners."
Daisuke nodded and smiled in defeat. The man with the yellow eyes gestured for the others to grab him, and he grabbed my chin, forcing me to watch what was about to happen. He figured out that Daisuke was my entire world and wanted to watch me suffer as he died.
Throughout all of it, Daisuke didn't look afraid. Looking back on all of it, I still can't understand why.
"No..." I said, tears staining my eyes. Not Daisuke. "Big Brother."
He looked at me, also crying but smiled. His eyes never left mine for a second.
"It's OK, Makina," he said. "It's going to be alright, little sister. Live long, and never forget what I told you. No matter what happens, I will always be with you."
And he looked up at the man with the white hair as he formed bones from his own body and killed my brother. The other four took turns killing my brother.
I screamed and cried and when they stopped, he coughed up blood.
"Any last words?" one of the men said to him.
"Don't...kill... the...girl... If...you...do...you'll...regret it..." and as he said those words, they slit his throat and fell alongside Toshiro, and joined the dead.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" I screamed and ran to my brothers' corpses, and tried to wake them up, and then to the rest of my family, and I realized slowly that they would never wake up again.
They then grabbed me and brought me over to the man who murdered my entire family, and his comrades who helped him. The man with white hair held me in a death grip and brought me over to the animal that led this massive slaughter on my village. No. To call him an animal is not enough. He's nothing more than a monster.
"Now, sssssssince you're the last one, I'm asssssssuming you're the Eclipsssssse child with the demon inside of you?" I looked at him confused through my tears. I had no idea what he was talking about. "Hmmmmmm. MAGNIFICENT!
"I don't know what that is!" I screamed. "Please don't kill me!"
The large man slapped me across the face.
"I don't believe you! Tell the truth, brat!"
"I don't think she does, my lord. She's just a child. They obviously kept her in the dark about her true power," the pink haired girl said. "So what shall we do? Kill her?"
"No! She's obviously the one we're looking for, the Eclipse child with the dragon inside of her, with the power of ten thousand men!" the man with the spiked hair said.
"What if she's not? There were dozens of people here, what if one of them was the Eclipse child and refused to tell us?"
"No, if that were the case, the demon would have gone on a rampage if the host died. As she's the only one left, there's no mistake, my lord. This is the one."
The leader considered this and brought me closer to him, examining me closely. I had never known fear like this before, but I knew that he was going to kill me. I honestly didn't mind if he did because then I would be with my family. I couldn't bare it if I was all alone without them. Please, just kill me.
"You could be right, Kimimaro." He then brought me face to face with him. "I give thissssss parting gift my dear girl. Not many have been known to ssssssurvive it, but you could be one of the few that doesssss. You will come ssssssseek me out for power becausssse you're weak and fragile. You desssssire power, sssssssomething that we have in common." He then moved his face to my neck. "Until our next meeting, little girl."
He then licked the side of my neck, causing me to squirm and then with a hiss, sunk his fangs into my neck. I had never such agonizing and intense pain in my whole life until that moment. He didn't draw blood, but he held his fangs there for a long time for no reason and no matter how hard I tried to push him away, it was just no use. After an eternity of him biting me, he finally let go and threw me to the ground. I then held my neck and winced at the pain. It then hurt even more when I felt a burning sensation on where he bit me, almost as if a mark were being pressed into my skin. I held onto the mark as the burning sensation grew worse and worse, it was a thousand times worse than the actual bite from where the burn started. It felt as if the whole burning sensation was taking over my entire body, causing me to scream until finally everything went black.
In the moments before I awoke, I saw the man who bit me taunt me with how weak I was and how easy it was for him to wipe out my entire village. He told me that if I hadn't been so weak, I could've saved them. The hate and anger blew up inside of me and when I woke up, I felt like a monster. I saw his cruel, yellow eyes and the dark energy consumed my entire being like it was poison. It was like I wasn't even myself anymore. I wasn't that adorable, innocent little girl, but rather a monster who had killed that little girl. I looked down at my hands and saw the marks that had been spread. I had no idea what was going on, but it felt too right to be wrong. I had never felt this powerful in my entire life. After being weak for so long, I felt strong.
My entire body was black, there was no remote trace of any human part of me. Although my body was in pain, hot scorching marks all over my body, I didn't care. Even though that man had slaughtered my family and my village, I was no longer weak. I was no longer the weak and pathetic little girl everyone said I was. Now I was strong. Now I owed my entire existence to him. I must go to him. Yes. Soon. But first, I need to kill something.
"We were too late after all."
"Check for survivors!"
I saw two men there, both young men but still older than Daisuke and Toshiro, looking at me as if I was a monster.
"Look, Aoi! There's a survivor!" the first man said. "I was sure he would've wiped out the entire clan but there's one still alive."
"Akio don't get ahead of yourself. Clearly this is the child he was looking for, judging by her appearance, he bit her to see if she was the one he was looking for. Don't underestimate her, even if she's just a child." The second man looked at me in sympathy, but still was sure to stay as far away from me as he could.
"YOU!" I shouted at them, uncaring of how unlike myself I was, how evil I was sounding. "THIS IS OUR LAND! YOU'RE TRESPASSING!"
I just felt like a monster and it felt unbelievably good to feel this powerful. I was used to feeling weak. Now I felt strong and it was so addictive, I could hardly stand it.
"The curse mark clearly has taken ahold of her. We must try to bring her out of this."
It took a lot of resistance and me fighting back against them both trying to kill them. But eventually, the two men then surrounded me and with a few summoning spells, were able to stall the curse mark and bring me back to reality.
I then felt like myself again. The dark feeling vanished away and the black marks across my body faded away. I then looked around and tried to remember what happened. I stopped and gasped when I gazed upon the dead body of my beloved older brother. I remembered everything that happened, how everything and everyone that I had ever loved was murdered right in front of me. How could I have ever considered betraying my family for someone who had taken them away from me? I sobbed harder than ever, and I felt as if I should die as well.
And to my complete surprise, the two men took me in their arms and held me as I cried. They didn't stop holding me until I stopped crying.
This shouldn't have happened. I was just a little girl, and no little girl should experience this much pain.
But I did, and they left me, without a reason for killing my family and without a reason for marking me.
I vowed never to use the curse mark ever again. They told me that he had probably left it there so that I would seek him out and ask him for power. It was an act of defiance against the man who had attacked our village and killed my family. The two men who had found me and had calmed the rage of the curse mark decided to take me back to their home, where they offered me a path to power and to avenging my family. The leaders of this organization were very skeptical about accepting me, but after much negotiations from the men who found me, they agreed to take me in. They offered me power and training, but warned me that the work would be hard and that they wouldn't treat me differently just because of my age.
These two offered me a chance at redemption. One I would latch onto like an anchor.
And that is why I chose the path, I went on that would lead to where I am now. The path to avenging my family.
And that path would lead me to meet a fellow spirit.
That's it! I hope you enjoyed it!
