I need Support
Disclaimer: I don't own anything Harry Potter. Believe me, if I do, you'll be the first to know.
a/n: This is second attempt at writing. I hope you all like it. It's just a small little something to lightn your mood. Hermione is in her fifth year and feeling left out by the trio, or rather, duo. She needs a little support. So who can slap a smile on someone's face like George Weasley?
"Lighten up Hermione. Life isn't all about homework." Hermione heard Ron say to her for about the millionth time today.
"Well, Ron, seeing as I get really good grades, my method works. If something works, why not continue?" Ron had unknowingly struck a nerve, and Hermione exited the room in a huff, not looking where she was going. She reached the entrance hall, and, even though it was raining, exited the castle. She figured that if she was in a bad mood, rain wasn't going to phase her. SHe took residence under a nearby tree, and pondered. Harry has Ron, Ron has Harry. I'm left with nothing. I'm that piece of the puzzle that people can live without. I'm just here to take up space I'm just- She stifled a sob. Hermione Granger never cried unless it was life-threating. Now, she started weeping silently, the tears mixing in with the rain on her face.
"Why can't someone in this whole bloody place see me fro who I am? I'm not Know-it-all Granger. I'm sweet Hermione. CAN'T ANYONE UNDERSTAND THAT?" She was yelling so her voice was hoarse. She started openly crying. She wanted so bad for someone to hold her and say "shhhhh. it'll be okay." But, in the back of her mind, she knew that would never happen. No one ever bothered to see wo Hermione was. They only saw the bookworm. Her crying hardened.
"Hermione?" She saw a red-head, and her not thinking straight, thought it was Ron.
"Go away, Ron. Leave me alone. Why would you want to hang around me?"
"Number one, I'm not Ron, I'm George. Number two, I want to hang around you because you are a charming, sweet person who just needs some support. And I'm here for you." He gently wiped her tears away, and said, "Did you know that Ron once slept with bubble gum in his mouth when he was four? It took him another four years to grow the hair back, even with magic."
Hermione smiled. That was a rare sight in the mood she was in.
"Hermione?"
"Yes."
"I don't think you're a know-it-all. In fact," he gulped, "I love you. I know it sounds corny, but-"
"You saw me for who I was George, and I love you, too. I always have, and-" She didn't finish, because she stifled another sob. George held her and whispered in her ear,
"Shhhhhhhh, it'll be okay, it'll be okay." Hermione looked up at him with her puppy eyes, and their lips slowly met. The kiss contained all the emotions that could not be said, only felt. They pulled away and looked into each others' eyes and Hermione thought, He's all I'll ever need.
"I love you so much, George."
"Likewise, Hermione."
