"Hey, Yacker?"
"What do you want, Slimeball?"
Eddie moved closer to her, so that he didn't have to shout what he was going to say next. He liked privacy, especially about Peddie (did he seriously just say that?) things.
"Okay, so last night I was at my dad's place because he had this whole dinner thing- you know what, that's not important. Anyways, he had on the news, and there was a special report on this girl who killed herself a few days ago. They showed some pictures of her, and gave a description of her personality." Eddie's voice, which for some reason had gone weirdly soft, was followed by Patricia's.
"Does this have a point?" She asked, being her usual impatient self.
"Yes. The girl, when they described her…she reminded me a lot of you, Patricia. And I just wanted to make sure you were…okay."
Patricia was taken slightly aback by his words.
"What the bloody hell is that supposed to mean? You think I've lost it?" She asked, no humor in her voice.
Eddie's eyes widened. "No, you've got it all wrong. That's not how I meant it all. I-I know suicide is a popular thing nowadays, and I just wanted to make sure you never thought about it."
Patricia averted her eyes. "That's none of your business. And just because I may be considered 'Goth,' does not mean I'm 'emo.' " With that, she stood up and began to leave, but Eddie caught her arm and stood up next to her.
"Patricia, listen to me. I don't think you're Goth or emo. I think you're Patricia, and that's the way I like it. The only reason I had to ask you about this was because I…I was worried about you. You better not ever die on me. I don't know what I'd do without you. Promise?" He asked her, not moving his eyes off hers.
Hesitantly, she nodded. "Promise." She planted a big one on his lips, then went upstairs to her room.
Eddie felt much better, knowing that his Yacker wasn't going anywhere.
