Let's see...I have no idea how to explain this one. Suffice it to say that it was a plotbunny that wouldn't go away.
Olivia keeled over, barely holding herself up by locking her arms with hands on her knees. Her chest heaved up and down as her lungs desperately sucked in the life giving air. Maybe she pushed herself too hard this time.
Suddenly, he was there next to her. His strong arm grabbed her as she sank to her knees. Olivia looked up, her vision fuzzy. She scarcely registered the object he held in front of her. She reached out for it anyway, finding it to be a soaking wet, ice cold water bottle.
Olivia found out very quickly that her hands were shaking too much to get the cap off. He took it from her, returning it without the offending cap.
"Have some water, Wonderwoman."
The cool water was more exhilarating then anything she could think of at the moment. After the satisfying drink, she looked up at her benefactor gratefully, "Thanks, Elliot."
He gave a smirk, "Can't have my partner out of commission again. I don't think I could handle another Dani."
She looked up and met his eyes, "I feel so appreciated." She grabbed his outstretched hand and pulled herself up.
::Later that day::
She rummaged through her bag frantically. "Damn it!" She muttered under her breath.
Her partner looked up, "Lose something?"
Olivia opened her mouth and then quickly closed it. No way was she going to tell him that she forgot to pack a tampon this morning. Men just can't comprehend that kind of thing. "Nah, don't worry about it."
Elliot shrugged and went back to his paperwork.
She squeezed her eyes shut and a sick feeling settled itself in her stomach. She scratched her head and wondered if she could sneak out for a personal errand on New York tax payers' money.
Then she wondered if she could get one in the bathroom dispensers and quickly dismissed the idea because there was no way they filled those things and anyway she didn't carry change. Why didn't the NYPD hire more women?
The sick feeling moved lower and she let out an exasperated sigh and decided the least she could do was go to the bathroom and check out the damage.
Pushing into the women's room she was surprised to see ADA Alex Cabot leaning over the sink and putting on her lipstick. The blonde looked over at her new companion.
"Hey, Olivia."
"Hi, Alex."
Olivia let out a slow breath wishing desperately that she wasn't in this situation. She vowed she would stash a treasure trove of tampons in her desk for all of eternity if she did not have to ask the person she reported to for a 'feminine napkin'.
Alex glanced at the detective with a small smile and dropped the lipstick in her purse.
Olivia was looking at the ground when a pair of pointed shoes moved into her vision. She followed the feet to a pair of long white legs to a smart grey business suit. She ended at a beautiful face that was trying not to smile. In the blonde's hand she was slowly waving a small green package.
Alex's lips broke into a broad smile, "I knew you'd forget."
Olivia blushed and reached out for the prize but Alex pulled it away and leaned in, placing a chaste, but promising kiss on the brunette.
The shorter woman moved away and grabbed the package with a playful swat.
Alex gave a short laugh, "See you tonight." And with that she walked out.
Olivia bit her lip and tasted fresh lipstick. She smiled broadly.
And this is why, my friends, blood is thicker than water.
Review...all the cool kids are doing it!
