Ashi
I dwelt alone
In a world of moan,
And my soul was stagnant as tide,
Till the fair and wonderful Ashi became my blushing bride,
Till the young warrior Ashi became my smiling bride.
Ah lesser and lesser bright
The stars of the night
Then the eyes of my beautiful bride!
That the vapor can make
The moon tint purple and silver,
Can vie with the modest Ashi's most unregarded feature,
Can compare with the bright eyed Ashi's most humble feature.
Now Doubt- now Pain
Can never come again,
For her soul gives me sigh for sigh,
And all day long
Shines, bright and strong
Astarte with the sky,
While ever to her dear Ashi opens her sparkling eyes
While ever to her young Ashi opens her black eyes.
