For the first couple weeks of his time in the twelfth division's research headquarters, too busy to take time out to get a haircut like her used to be able to in the academy, Rin spent hours tucking it behind his ears, trying to make it fit in a ponytail behind his neck, and blowing it out of his eyes. He found he spent more of his time those first couple days trying to keep his hair from getting in the way of his vision before one of the gigai research team's heads pulled him aside.

The team head sighed in irritation around a dog-ended cigarette as he scooped up Rin's bangs into an impromtu ponytail at the top of his head and tying a hairband around it.

"It's just temporary," he said, gruffly, "But it will keep your hair from getting into everything."

Rin blinked once, twice, and then again before a hesitant smile tugged at his lips and he bowed, "Thank you so much, senpai."

Akon scoffed and shook his head before turning back to his office, tapping his clipboard against his neck, "Just keep it tied up if you're going around the gigai again, kid."
