Title: Scream
The Doctor generally did his best to keep his friends, past and present, from meeting each other. He had learned from bitter experience that when such meetings did occur, they ended up uniting against him in a most unfair manner.
One day, though, he failed miserably, as he accidentally stumbled upon Peri whilst travelling with her successor, Mel. The Doctor fled; the women squared off.
"So ... what do you do? For a living, I mean?" Peri started off.
Mel shrugged. "I work with computers. What about you?"
"I'm a college student."
An awkward silence followed. It was broken when Peri blurted, "So what does he see in you, anyway? I mean, it must have been something really great, since it kept him from trying to look for me."
Mel looked away. "Oh, I don't know."
"Oh, come on," Peri scoffed.
"Well," Mel admitted, "the Doctor has told me that I can scream the loudest of any of his friends."
"That's what he told me!" Peri yelped.
"I didn't mean it that way," Mel emphasised, blushing.
Peri grinned. "I did. Want to find out firsthand which of us can scream the loudest?"
