Lyssa's Choice

This is just a little drabble that's a 100 word story, if you don't know that is set in the same universe as my story, "A New View". "Lyssa's Choice" shows a moment in Alyssa Kells past that helps explain the way she is in "A New View".

"I don't know if I should

"I don't know if I should."

"Why not?"

"Just Because!" Alyssa stared into Zach's eyes, begging him.

He smiled back. "Jack would say that's not a good enough reason."

"So?" She looked away, frowning. "I care what you say."

"What I—" Zach chuckled. "Why? Is my opinion that important?"

Alyssa stamped the sand underfoot. "How can you say that?!" She glared at him. "Of course it is! You're my only friend!" She let a tear fall.

"Are you sure?" Zach continued to smile.

"Yes." Alyssa searched his face. "I'm joining."

The waves beat on the shore. Alyssa walked away.
