Kuukaku grimaced as the wide-eyed kid stared at them blankly from the doorway, having come to check to on his screaming captain. "A-... Are you s- sure he's okay, Shi... Shiba-dono?" Rin managed, fingers worrying at the sleeves of his labcoat.

Kuukaku's arm around Mayuri's neck tightened just a bit more before he could protest, "Yeah, kid. We're just," she ground her heel into his foot, "-getting ready to go merrily skipping in the sunshine an' all that kinda stuff."

Rin bit his lip, "Shiba-dono, I don't m- mean to contridict you, but..."

The Shiba woman's eyes flashed dangerously, "Huh?"

His ponytail jerked forward as he bowed his head, "It's raining so if you do go out skipping with Taichou please do remember to take an umbrella."
