Hello I wrote this quite a while ago and have now decided that I would post it here. I have said this before but will say again as a double shield against evil pernickety lawyers, the title and lyrics that Goku sings belong to the Pet Shop Boys not me! (I highly recommend the song by the way). Also Goku and Sanzo belong to Kazuya Minekura not me, because if they belonged to me there would be FAR more sexual innuendoes and uncomfortable situations including violations of personal space... in fact there would just be scenes and scenes of rampant gay sex...

ANYWAY! On with the fic, hope you enjoy

You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You're Drunk

"What a performance tonight

Should I react or turn off the light?

Looks like you're picking a fight in a blurring of wrong and right"

Sanzo looked up from the unconscious man who had had the nerve to make a pass at him, to the stage. Goku was standing on the stage at the karaoke machine, singing with a beautiful voice the monk had never heard before.

"But how your mood changes, you're a devil, now an angel

Suddenly subtle and solemn and silent as a monk"

Goku looked down at Sanzo and gold met violet as the boy sang his heart out to the man

"You only tell me you love me when you're drunk"

Sanzo's eyes widened slightly, he didn't know he had really said that, alcohol loosened his tongue more than he first believed. Goku looked away and continued to sing.

"It's better than nothing, I suppose

Some doors have opened, others closed

But I could not see you exposed, to the horrors behind some of those

Somebody said: listen don't you know what you're missing?

You should be kissing him instead of dissing him like a punk"

Sanzo remembered a discussion with Hakkai when the man had basically said those last two lines in his own polite way and he wondered how much the green eyed man knew about his secret feelings for the golden eyed heretic.

"But you only tell me you love me when you're drunk

You only tell me you love me when you're drunk"

A storm of emotions was forming within the blonde monk, the major conflicts including guilt which he tried (and failed) to force down and the strong love he held for the boy.

"All of my friends keep asking me, why, oh, why do you not say goodbye?

If you don't even try you'll be sunk"

Sanzo remembered walking in on Gojyo and Goku having a discussion about something that had been dropped when he entered. Had the redhead been telling Goku to give up on him, that it would destroy him if he continued?

"'Cause you only tell me you love me when you're drunk"

Sanzo remembered thinking that Goku had been a bit quiet lately, and hadn't been eating quite as much.

"What's the meaning when you speak with so much feeling?"

Had his drunken confessions really affected him?

"Is it over when you're sober?"

Could it be that Goku felt something for the bad tempered priest?

"Am I junk?"

Did Goku love him back?

"You only tell me you love me when you're drunk"

Gold met violet once more, but they were shining with such emotion that it answered Sanzo's question straight away. The boy took in a deep breath and sang the last line of the song, his voice washing over Sanzo, not aware that it would change everything forever.

"You only tell me you love me when you're drunk."
