-Perfect Mornings-

Light shimmered like broken glass, shattering to the floor in penetrating shards. Kairi could not remember having opened the window, or even that day had emerged. Last she recalled, her curtains had been drawn against the faceless moon and stars. Therefore, her lithe figure now sat bathing in the sunshine with her eyes closed against the glare. Sitting on her bed and head leaning against the wall, Kairi waited.

Good morning… A voice seemed to whisper with the wind, settling in mid air.

"Good morning, Naminé." Kairi whispered back with a gentle smile.

Whitewash walls seemed to brighten and become golden. Bed covers wrapped loosely around the princess of heart, to become soft and warm in the baking sunlight. Birds sang outside revelling in this perfect morning that only appeared once in a lifetime. It certainly seemed so.

How are you feeling…? Naminé murmured, letting the sound fill the whole room before the effect could become fully realised on her other-half. Kairi let out a slow sigh once it had.

"Scared," she admitted, "And you?"

There was a pleasant hum or purr, the kind you hear on delightful spring days. A little like the ones Kairi had shared with her friends, when the danger of heartless and disappearing worlds had been a fragment of a lunatic's imagination and nothing more. Those days seemed so far away and out of reach… like distant memories.

Content… was the response. Content and brimming with happiness…

Kairi opened her eyes to see the white-clad blond sitting nonchalantly in the middle of the room, staring out of the window to the nearby beach. In the sand, against the lapping waves both of them that morning were going to realise one of their burning desires.

The redhead nodded fervently and beamed, "Then I guess I am too."

Naminé's features became troubled after a moment, and the sunlight almost dimmed in response. It was as if a dark cloud had passed over their souls and Kairi felt it deep within her heart. A tug. A lurch.

Is it right to feel this way…? The blond-haired woman whispered weakly, So many Nobodies who could be feeling this… is it right to feel this way when they can't?

Kairi knew this question was not for her, rather for the sky and earth (moon and sun) anyone who could give her an answer or reassurance. After all that they had been through, surely they were entitled to some happiness. Had they not fought for this? Waited and prayed?

"I think we deserve this, Naminé."

The Nobodie's translucent form flickered at Kairi's words and stilled after a moment of silence. Then slowly, Naminé rose and crossed the room to the bright window. Kairi watched her evasively from her position.

Down there… said Naminé with a tone almost like reverie, We will be married there… tonight.

Kairi watched the young woman's face lighten at the thought and her form flicker again. Tonight, they would be married to Sora and Roxas. She shut her eyes briefly and when she opened them again, Naminé had vanished.

"Tonight." said the princess.

Tonight… was the response, an airy murmur.

From the window Kairi noticed the sun brighten that much more, as though it had been eavesdropping and now radiated with pleasure. It was a perfect morning indeed.
