"Hey Lu, can you pass me that book please?" Lily's eyes widened as she could see that James was talking to her but what he called her didn't make sense. She sat with a perplexed expression for a moment before she saw said boy's calloused hand waving infront of her face. "Luuuu… Lily? Hello, anybody in there?" James sang.
"You… what? Why Lu?" Lily stuttered, "You, uh, you called me Lu. Why did you do that?" she asked more coherently.
James just shrugged and smirked. "Ever realised that 'U' and 'I' are next to each other on a typewriter?" He threw a piece of parchment at Lily.
Dear Lu… fuck buggering shitting fuck. Dear James, learn to spell, you idiot.
Lily laughed at the page of printed letters. He spelt her name wrong and beat himself up about it. How sweet was that?
"So, you called me Lu because you spelt my name wrong?" Lily smiled.
"Nope. I call you Lu because I spelt your name wrong a lot with that bloody typewriter so decided that if I actually called you Lu and I spelt your name wrong, it wouldn't matter." James threw another piece of parchment at her.
Dear Lu,
Go out with me?
-James
Once again Lily laughed, becoming fond of the nickname. "Yes… err, Jim" She said, thinking of a nickname for him. "I think I'd like that a lot"
James shuddered at the nickname. "Please don't call me Jim"
"Yeah, I didn't think that worked either, sorry.." Lily blushed.
They sat in silence for a few moments, both grinning like lunatics. Before James turned to face Lily again. "Hey Lulabelle"
"What?" Lily asked, confused.
He leaned over her keeping his face very close to hers while grabbing a book from behind her with his left hand before very quickly pressing his lips to hers soundly. He pulled away just as quickly, moving back to his place on the floor.
"Nothing, just needed a book for my essay.." James smirked leaving a very confused Lily to react to the situation she'd just been part of.
