Cardboard Castles

I was listening to this song and I was hit with inspiration to write it into a fanfic. Hope you like it. I suggest listening to it on to get the full effect.

She was a rainbow once
So colorful but that was once
Now that's impossible to see, to see
With a voice subliminal it's the only sign she's beautiful
Here's all that's left of her dignity
She goes yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah

The song was blasting on my i-pod as I walked down Times Square. It was uncanny how this song related to me. Even though my name was Bella, the only way I was beautiful was my voice. I stepped onto the Broadway stage and sat my bag down. I checked to see if the coast was clear and began to sing.

There's a Girl in New York City
Skylines no longer pretty
Bound for destination anywhere
She grew up in California
Big dreams, they tend to own you there...
Now she's building Cardboard Castles in the air...

He was a pretty boy,
Rolling cash his only joy,
Now that's impossible to see (to see)
Used to be one of them
Now the men in suits are avoiding him
He's lost his credit cards
But hey, he's free!

Edward Masen

I cringed at my name as I walked down Times Square. My father continually threatened to disinherit me, but I knew the threat was empty. The song playing on my i-pod was one that my sister Nessie put on when she wanted to listen to songs she liked in my car. The song oddly related to me. Here I was in New York, where my father's associates were avoiding me due to the mischief I made. As I passed the Broadway stage I heard a noise coming from inside.

There's a man in New York City
Skylines no longer pretty
Bound, for destination anywhere
Had the whole world at his window
It seems so long ago from there
Now he's building Cardboard Castles in the air

I stepped inside and saw a beautiful girl singing her voice out. She closed her eyes and swayed as she sang.

Does anybody know?
Does anybody care?
Over here, Over there
Building Cardboard Castles in the air.

I watched transfixed as she softened her voice, keeping her eyes closed.

There's a Girl in New York City
Skylines no longer pretty
Bound for destination anywhere
She grew up in California, big dreams they tend to own you there.
Now she's building Carboard Castles in the air.

I joined in and stepped out on stage. She jumped and stared at me as we finished the song.

There's a Girl in New York City
Skylines no longer pretty
Bound for destination anywhere
She grew up in California, big dreams they tend to own you there.
Now she's building Carboard Castles in the air.(air ohhhh)

"What's your name?" I asked her. She looked at me with deep, chocolate brown eyes.

"B-Bella." She stuttered. I saw her bite her bottom lip and blush. I smiled my famous crooked smile.

"Well Miss Bella, How would you and that amazing voice like to go out to dinner tonight." She smiled.

"I would love to, Mr.…" She trailed off.

"Masen, Edward Masen." I supplied. She smiled and held out her hand. I took it and kissed it. "Shall we."

She walked ahead of me and, for some strange reason, I knew I had just fallen in love.
