Lily sat on the swing, dragging her feet through the frozen woodchips. It was Christmas Eve, and it couldn't be quieter. Her family didn't celebrate until tomorrow. She could see the glow of lights from homes, feel the frosty air, and could smell it too.
She buttoned up her jacket, and pulled her red and gold Gryffindor scarf tighter around her neck. She brushed a lone strand of red hair behind her ear.
Her aunt and uncle had surprisingly shown up and was at her house right now. It was cramped, because Petunia had also shown up with her fiancee, Vernon. She secretly called him Vermin, though. He hated her and she didn't really like him. She decided to get some air though, after being in a small house with four kids, four adults, Petunia, Vermin, and some animals.
She looked around the playground, her eyes landing on the bush that Severus had appeared from years before.
Crack.
She was on her feet immediately, fingering her wand underneath her jacket.
Lily was smart- she knew that sound anywhere- someone Apparating or Disapparating. She turned in a full circle.
Nothing.
Lily sat back down on the swing, lettng her thoughts drift, until they rested on a single person.
James Potter.
The last two months with him were wonderful.
His head had deflated and he wasn't arrogant anymore.
Little did she know that it was that very person who had just Apparated, and was hiding in the slide.
James stayed, watching her. After a few minutes, he decided to show himself. He slid down the slide and stood up.
Lily immediately looked up. She stood.
"Hey, Tiger Lily," James whispered.
"Hello, James."
James quickly closed the gap between them and placed his lips on hers.
When they broke apart, they embraced.
"Happy Christmas," James whispered in her ear.
"Happy Christmas," Lily returned, content.
James kissed the top of her head.
