The Loneliest Iceberg

Once upon a time, there was an iceberg. His name was Wallace. Wallace the Iceberg sat in the ocean all by himself, hoping to find a friend who would understand him. Unfortunately, the other icebergs in the Atlantic Ocean were always so cold and distant.

Just then, something floated by very slowly. It was a ship. Or, in the mind of Wallace, who couldn't comprehend human language like the readers of his tale, it was just a thing coming toward him that could potentially be his new friend. If Wallace were able to read, he would be able to read the letters "Titanic" along the side of the ship.

The ship honked at him, its way of telling Wallace, "Hello."

"Hi," said Wallace in response. The words weren't spoken since Wallace was an iceberg and didn't have a mouth, but the words were understood by the Titanic.

"Lovely weather we're having this evening," honked the Titanic, "I am heading toward England myself. What are you up to on a cold evening like this one?"

"Oh, nothing much," said Wallace, "Just...chilling."

Titanic honked again, this time with an air of laughter in its smokepipes, "I like you. Let's be friends."

Titanic and Wallace spoke of many things, like world politics, sports, and watching the whales that passed by as they spoke. Wallace didn't want this moment to end, but Titanic knew it was time to go.

"I'll never forget you, Wallace," honked Titanic. The ship embraced Wallace with its hull. Wallace, not ready to be left alone again, held the Titanic as close as it could with its icy sides.

Titanic couldn't handle the amount of love that Wallace was giving it, and split in half. Screams of the people trapped on the vessel echoed across the ocean as the Titanic sank to the murky depths of the ocean, never to be seen again.

Wallace tried to cry about the loss of his friend in the greatest tragedy of the year 1912, but he could not. Because he was an iceberg.

The End
