Lingering Thoughts

I have an entire list of ideas I want to do for oneshots and chapter fanfics. This was one of them so I hope you enjoy it. I forget where this idea came from but hey, we're all allowed to forget. Akira Toriyama owns DB series and definitely Vegeta.

Something made him want to be alone; something that made him worry a bit. He never really wanted to be alone now. Ever since he found that he could love, he enjoyed it; embraced it unlike his father. Now here he was sitting on a cliff with the night sky overhead as the stars poked out from the ebony sky. Sighing, he swore he wasn't going to hear the end of it from his beloved but he didn't care.

All he wanted to do was think, be alone with his thoughts so he could hear them out. Looking down at the bottom of the ravine, he felt human now instead of the proud Saiyan prince that he started out to be. Sure, he still had some ego problems at times but he didn't care. He was married with two kids of his own. He wasn't even sure if his father would be proud of him for whom he is today.

Turning his attention to the crescent moon that was rising, he closed his eyes. This place – his home – wasn't supposed to be. It was supposed to be sold even if he wasn't supposed to come here. If he didn't come, then he wouldn't have met his love and understood why Kakarot wanted to protect it so much.

Taking in a breath with the wind blowing slightly, he opened his eyes to take in the world around him. This life, it was supposed to be filled with dread and pain if it wasn't for Kakarot. Ever since that day on Namek, it changed him even if he didn't realize it until later when Bulma let him stay with her.

"Kakarot, where the hell have you gone?" He asked himself, expecting an answer from the goofy Saiyan that always thought with his stomach. Smirking, he sighed again. If it wasn't for that man, he would still be purging planets for that tyrant that hated his guts. He hid the truth from him, expecting him to believe him forever. If it wasn't for those goons of the idiot, then he wouldn't be standing there. He wouldn't have protected Earth from the dragons or tried to protect his family from the threat that parasite brought with him.

"Dad!" A familiar voice called out, catching his attention.

Turning around, he saw the headlights with someone waving – someone he knew well since the time she was born. Smirking, he turned his full attention to his daughter and wife as they drove up to him. He knew why he was protecting this planet. He had a family to protect and he was going to do it even if he died trying.

Looking at the moon once more with them parked a little ways off, he smiled. "Thank you Kakarot . . . for everything that you helped me realize." He whispered before walking up to the car to get in. Whether he was going to admit loving this place or not, he was going to be there.

Like it? It's a oneshot so it's completed. Thank you for reading and please review to tell me your thoughts if you have any.
